Oubliette is a psychological sci-fi horror film. Inspired by Silent Hill 2, The Shining, and Coherence, Oubliette is a thought-piece, using fear to symbolize, and shed light on, the cycles of abuse.
In an alternate future, interplanetary conflict threatens the safety of Earth. Despite this, a group of friends host a surprise birthday party for Lucy, a woman with a tragic past. As the evening progresses, Lucy notices several "glitches" that start innocuous, but turn terrifying as they reflect pieces of her childhood trauma. To make matters worse, Lucy can’t seem to remember how she got there...
The film is ready to go. We completed production on the entire feature film earlier this year, working with some AWESOME talent, including Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory) and Mallory Everton (Studio C, Stop & Go).
While we managed to make it through pre-production and shooting, our film was one of the last independent films to have pandemic restrictions required by the Screen Actors Guild. This took a toll on our budget, putting us at a disadvantage for post-production.
This campaign will allow us to cover our final post-production costs needed to finish the film!
An oubliette is a small, medieval dungeon dug into the floor (some were built into the walls!). With only a trapdoor entrance, sitting is difficult, if not impossible. Oubliettes were some of the worst psychological prisons; anyone thrown in was meant to be forgotten entirely – suffering an agonizing, solitary death.
However, at its heart, our Oubliette is an emotional character piece. While the film utilizes trauma and its terrible isolation, it also shows the power we have to bring hope. Once it's finished, we hope Oubliette’s terrors will stir its viewers toward more understanding, compassion, and healing in their relationships – especially with themselves!

About This Team
Alexis is a SAG actress based out of Los Angeles, CA. With nineteen years of experience in the entertainment industry, she's trained with The Acting Center, Cathryn Sullivan, Caleb Pierce, Gil Junger, and at UCB LA.
Her latest work features her opposite Nicolas Cage in the upcoming A24 film Sympathy for the Devil.
Jon Heder is a screenwriter, actor, and filmmaker. His feature film debut came in 2004 as the title character of the comedy film Napoleon Dynamite. He has also acted in the films The Benchwarmers, School for Scoundrels, Blades of Glory, Mama's Boy, When in Rome, and many more.
He's also provided his voice talents for the animated films Monster House and Surf's Up.
Mallory was one of the founders and main cast members of BYUtv's Studio C – from season 1 up to season 9.
After she left Studio C, she founded the sketch comedy group JK! Studios, with which she reached the semifinals in the comedy competition Bring the Funny.
Mallory's feature-length film, Stop and Go, of which she is the co-creator and lead actress, premiered globally at the SXSW Film Festival in 2020.
From improviser to classical actor, acoustic jammer to full-fledged band leader, Dave is artistic lightning in a bottle.
Holding an MFA from the highly revered Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK, Dave has worked with professionals from all over the world and continues to develop an ever-growing understanding of acting, performing, and human relations.
Outside of creating, Dave spends his time reading esoteric books, exploring music, and spending time with loved ones.
Noah was raised on theater. He spent his youth performing Shakespeare plays in a traveling children's theater, and developed a passion for performance and storytelling.
His skillset also extends to the screen. His most recent film credits include the Sundance selection The Killing of Two Lovers, 9 Years to Neptune, and Strong Enough.
Martha received her MA in screenwriting and MFA in creative writing from Wilkes University, where she focused her studies on children’s media and middle grade novels. She is most at home writing comedy and spooky stories for all ages and recently won the 2023 ScreenCraft Family Screenplay Competition with a sci-fi TV pilot for animation.
Martha also enjoys teaching and providing support to other writers and has taught screenwriting and film history at BYU, her undergraduate alma mater.
Davey received an MFA in screenwriting from The University of Texas at Austin in 2020. His work as a screenwriter and filmmaker has screened at dozens of films internationally, including SXSW, Austin Film Festival, and The Palm Springs International Film Festival, and his feature-length scripts have been recognized by Austin Film Festival (finalist) and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowship (semifinalist).
Davey's writing credits include Pebble Creek, Worst Summer Ever, WWJD, Scratchy Cage & Tumbleweed, Blood Brethren, Eugenie (BYUtv), and the Adam & Eve web series (Amazon Prime). In addition to writing, Davey also works as an actor and independent producer-director.
Ashley has worked in the film industry since 2015 and has spent her career filling many different rolls in the art department. Her credits include Midsommar, Hereditary and numerous shows for Disney, Netflix, Paramount Plus, Hallmark and others.
Most recently, she designed Villains Inc, directed by Jeremy Warner and Aliens Abducted my Parents, which was selected for the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.
Kenneth has 10 years of experience in the film industry, specializing in cinematography and creative problem solving. He has a true love for lenses and light and enjoys the high stakes game that is independent film production.
He values effective and edifying collaboration with a solid crew and tries to bring a sense of calm and humor to even the most intense situations.
Micah Dahl Anderson is an Academy Award-winning composer with 13 years of professional experience. He has composed for 14 feature films, and has been principal composer for 4 television series. In addition to his accolades in the film industry, Micah has worked on projects for ABC, Lifetime, PBS, Independent Lens, World Channel, and American Public Media.
He has composed music performed by the Utah Symphony, and is a two-time Emmy winner for his contributions to the television series Beehive Stories.
Jordan is a producer, writer, and director of commercials, short films, animated series, and documentary television series, as well as feature-length scripted and documentary projects.
Oubliette is his first scripted feature film as producer.
Derek is a writer and producer. A rising talent, The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Northwest Chapter) recognized his as "Best Writer" in their College Category, three years in a row. His debut short film, Dream Girl, won the Best of Show award at the Grand Teton Film Festival along with several other nominations.
When Derek's not creating film or commercial projects, he loves running half-marathons and spending time with his wife and daughter.
Jacob is an Emmy-award winning director, writer, and editor. He has spent the past ten years honing his craft on commercials, music videos, shorts, and an experimental doc-fiction hybrid. Oubliette is his first budgeted feature.
