Josh, Layne, Mauro, and Sam are aspiring filmmakers and best friends. Together we wrote a feature film script. Your donations will help us create a proof of concept short film. Mission Statement

The end goal of our work here is not this short film. This is a crucial step in our mission to self-produce our first feature. We aim to make a project with a lot of heart, authenticity, and humor. If we made you laugh or cry, we did our job right.

The Story

Our Friend Died is a roadtrip comedy centering around a turbulent friendship pushed to its limits when Alex and James' mutual best friend Liam suddenly passes away. They are tasked to drive the van passed down by Liam's father to Liam cross-country in time for his funeral in Los Angeles. In true roadtrip fashion, Alex and James' personalities clash, and their hijinks along the way help them explore their friendship as well as the grief of losing a best friend. Along the way, the meet Daisy; an emotionally intelligent indie musician wise beyond her years. Daisy joins Alex and James on their trip, and the three of them gain miles not just on the road, but in their lives.



Our proof of concept short film is a combination of multiple scenes from the feature script. In the short, we follow ALEX (Josh Flitter) and JAMES (Prance) as they make a pit-stop at a bar on the side of the road. There, they meet DAISY (Abigail Breslin) a musician who joins them on their trip. The goal of this short is to introduce us to the three main characters of the feature, whose evolving dynamic and relationships with each other, and grief, will climax as they get closer to their destination.



Once this short is done, the work doesn't stop there for us. Our main goal is to make our first feature film. This short film will serve as a proof-of-concept that we can use to further our efforts of getting the feature script produced. Your contribution to this crowdfunding campaign will have a direct impact on realizing our dream of making our first ever feature film!
