Mission Statement
The Story
Out of Bounds is a film about roles. Societal roles, familial roles, cultural roles, gender roles; how do we obtain them? Can we change them? In a world shifting at an exponential rate, we need to ask, which traditions are worth keeping, and which ones are best left in the past.
Our writer/director, Shannon MacKinnon, aims to explore systemic patterns in society. She wants us all to better understand each other, so that we're better equipped to handle the issues of today.
(Society is taking massive shifts these days. It's stretching its limbs, feeling for boundries; which ones to build, and which ones to break. Some hold tightly against the wall while others run passed it, never looking back.)
Once the project is complete, it will be circulated through festivals and hopefully will have a home release digitally with some physical distribution. We're hoping to have as far a reach with it as we can and are dedicated to its circulation.
Birdie and Corin step back into their parent's house after a year without speaking. Birdie has been in the house a few weeks now. She resumes old routines, does her best to cope with her father's passing on her own. She wants to update the house, make it her own, deal with what happened there. Her efforts are quiet and slow but they're her efforts and they are moving forward. Corin hasn't extensively been in the house since he left as a teenager. He's squeezing being there into a business trip to deal with the house one last time and get it ready to be sold. He would rather be anywhere else, except home with his wife.
All normal comes from somewhere, we inherit it. Standards, coping mechanisms, fears, classes, how we treat each other. It's important to take a long look at where some of our normal comes from, who put it in place, who benefits from it and what to do with that information.
BIRDIE - Played by Juliet Wolfe
Birdie is an example of a person with a lot of natural showmanship who wasn’t allowed any expression. She’s very much a people pleaser and a host. Resigned to it and finds it as her only safety and outlet until her parent’s die. She is also playing a role, the one her mother left, and she inherited her silence. She notices every smile, every crook of the mouth. How hard you put down a book or walk up the stairs. They are all her indicators for how she should behave.
CORIN - Played by Justin Jawor
Corin left home as fast as he could, and didn’t interact much with the family as a teenager. It’s hard to say how much he was driven and how much he drove himself out. He must always be one step ahead of everything. He must always know what’s coming and undercut real emotion. He was pulled up by his bootstraps, is afraid of “weakness”and concerned with “filling a role”.

About This Team
Role of Birdie- Juliet Wolfe
Juliet Wolfe is a Chicago-based actor and a recent graduate of Northwestern University’s Theatre program, where she earned a B.A. focused on acting and was selected for both the Chicago Acting Showcase and New York Acting Showcase. A few favorite performances include Wendla in a new translation of Spring Awakening, Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, and Queen Elizabeth I in Schiller’s Mary Stuart. Most recently, Juliet portrayed acclaimed author and journalist Georgie Anne Geyer in a one-woman show by Gera-Lind Kolarik, Our Man in Havana is a Girl, staged in a special memorial reading. Juliet’s training has been rounded by Stage Combat intensives, voice coaching, and physical and circus training at the Actor’s Gymnasium. Juliet also studied with the Prague Shakespeare Company, attending rigorous workshops and masterclasses through their acclaimed Summer Shakespeare Intensive. There, she played Queen Isabelle in the first production of Richard II to be staged with Original Shakespearean Pronunciation. Juliet is represented by Dream Team Talent. When she’s not performing, you can find her gallivanting through museums with friends, guzzling Dark Matter coffee, and re-reading female-centric fantasy novels.
Role of Corin - Justin Jawor
"Justin Jawor is thrilled to be involved in the production of "Out of Bounds" for the role of Corin. Justin has a strong comedic acting and improvisation background from Second City, iO, and The Acting Studio that led him to roles like Mickey Finn in "Flanagan's Wake," directed by Jack Bronis, and Tyler in "We Gotta Bingo" directed by Bill Collins at the Chicago Theater Works Theater. Justin also has his own improv show called, "Spuds and Stouts," about three local Irish lads in a pub and he runs his own podcast and YouTube show called Da Chicago 60 which promotes local artists, comedians, and business throughout the city of Chicago. He also writes, acts, and produces his own short films one of which, "Da Breakup," was just selected as an "Official Selection" for the Canadian Comedy Film Festival in Toronto, CN. Justin is a native of the Chicagoland area and when he is not producing, writing, or acting in something, he plays soccer on Sundays, is an avid Chicago sports fan, and sings at karaoke bars or whenever and wherever he feels like it. Justin wants to thank the director and the whole crew of the production of "Out of Bounds" for the opportunity to continue pursuing his passion of acting, especially in a dramatic role, and he looks forward to delivering a powerful performance in the role of Corin."
Writer/Director - Shannon MacKinnon
Shannon has a background in video game design and art. She strives to bring the visual
storytelling of the mediums across platform into film with a unique look at the world and
approach. She wants to give honest representation for people who may not have received one.
Shannon loves directing actors and learning acting coaching techniques to help them succeed
and enjoy their craft. Her love of animation also influences her style, creating a desire to
integrate elements of animation into her live action projects. In her spare time, Shannon enjoys
video games, writing and nature. Shannon’s recent film projects include directing HELLEBORE,
SWEET SONG and OPEN AIR, Production Designer on RED directed by FRANCES
WILKERSON, Production Designer on JACK directed by SAVANNAH MOSELEY and Script
Supervisor on OPEN YOUR EYES directed by SERGIO BAUZA
Producer - Nicholas Bennett
Nicholas Bennett is the Producer for Out of Bounds. He has a passion for filmmaking for as long as he can remember. Nick is going into his third year at the College of DuPage, taking classes in their motion picture/television department. This has provided him with many opportunities to work on many projects. He strives to become a director, but has an interest in many different aspects of filmmaking. Nick was the editor for the soon to be released short film RED, directed by FRANCES WILKERSON. He plans on taking this opportunity to be the Producer for Shannon Mackinnon’s Out of Bounds to further show his capabilities.
First Assistant Director - Aeryn Gray
Aeryn Gray grew up enjoying a wide variety of storytelling methods, especially film as a medium of storytelling. As a kid he would always watch behind-the-scenes footage on DVDs of their favorite films, and see the process of how the films were made. They were equally fascinated by the process in which a film was made as they were in the film itself. He learned how much work, how many hands are required, and the teams that all work together to produce the films that we all grow to love. Aeryn’s passion towards film led him to get his Associate’s Degree in Film Studies through College of DuPage and he continue to work on films on his journey to become a full-time assistant director. His work includes RED, directed by FRANCES WILKERSON, PEOPLE DIE IN THIS MOVIE directed by NICOLE BAUER, and I DREAM OF DISCO directed by SAMANTHA POWERS
Director of Photography - Will Garippo
The Director of Photography for Out of Bounds and a cinematography student living in Wheaton, IL, Will is an avid percussionist, and lover of music and cinema from a young age. He began a serious interest in film and cinematography in 2016 after buying a a DSLR for photography and to record himself practicing on the drum kit to audition to attend Berklee in Boston. Following that, he began recording street videos of friends' art and graffiti work around his hometown. A photography class at the College of DuPage began his official study of film production. Recent/Favorite credits include DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY for HOLD UP by JOSIE DUNNE, CAMERA OPERATOR for the music video of YELLOWBRICK by RIC WILSON, GAFFER for the short film MUSE produced by MAALIK FALSETTO, and 1ST AC for the short film RED directed by FRANCES WILKERSON
Production Sound/Post Sound - Pranav "Navi" Bruzuk
Navi is an aspiring sound designer and sound mixer. He has experience doing post sound production and audio engineering. He is really excited about this film because of the potential for interesting sound design and musical composition. Key Grip - Christian Carnate
Christian Carnate, the Gaffer for Out of Bounds and a cinematography student living in Glendale
Hts, IL. As a child, Christian was always interested in anything artistic, whether it was music,
photography, drawing, etc. He started building his love for film when he decided to take a couple
classes at the College of DuPage in early 2018. He felt that film was the best way to tell a story
that would connect people. Recent/favorite credits include: GAFFER for METAMORPHOSIS
produced by MIKAILA COUCH, GAFFER for OPEN YOUR EYES directed by SERGIO BAUZA,
GAFFER for WRONG TURN AT LUNGFISH directed by PRANAV BUZRUK, and GAFFER for

Editor - Matt Papagiotopolos
Matt has a diverse history as an artist, from music (Saxamaphone) to writing (terrible comedy), Matt only finds happiness in art, food, and schadenfreude. From the time he watched The Shining to the analysis narration of a film student, Matt knew he loved film. He believes this is an amazing medium, because all skills find their use. Matt enjoys both the subjective and technical aspects of art. He is super excited to be able to further both of these creative skills as Editor for this project, and knows there will be plenty of challenges ahead to help him further him dream of maybe being able to make video his life’s work.
Costumes - Scott Wagoner jr
Scott Wagoner Jr. has 5-6 years of film making under his belt and has IMBD credits to show. Familiarity in lighting, sound in films and in theaters building sets for shows. Scott's most recent experience as a production designer was for student short film ILLUSTRATOR BOOK directed by and was a grip for a feature film EVERY 21 SECONDS directed by KUBA LUCZKIEWICZ. Scott take great pride in visual storytelling too making visual effaces too make making costumes and props. Scott hopes someday he will become a full-time worker in film making in the art production department.
