This film tackles a lot- trauma, repression, neurodiversity (especially as it makes itself present, and is neglected, in young women). But it centers on fantasy, stemming from the possibility of incredible joy. It's about the desire to heal, to accept, to get closer, and to truly connect.

Mission Statement

We're a team of artists who are desperate to contribute something new and thrilling in an otherwise dark time to be a creator. We want to share something that speaks to the overwhelm a lot of us have been feeling, and creates something joyful, vulnerable, and pervasive from it.

The Story

Well, to no one's surprise- this has been an unimaginable time to take part in artistic endeavors, let alone lead them. And there are a lot of stories that are owed attention in this moment, and it's vital to engage with as many of them as possible.

Our story, specifically, speaks to a cultural overwhelm that's taking place, and the isolation (from others, and ourselves) that's occuring from it. We've created a short film, a story, that centers on something a lot of us are going through- distancing, socially and emotionally, from the people we connect with in the name of self-preservation. But hand in hand with that, telling the story about the desperate desire to be close with others despite it all, to ease the loneliness we feel from our collective experience in this moment.

This film follows a young woman on the day she moves to a new city. We watch her navigate the overwhelm and stress that comes with moving, as she maneuvers around confronting the reason she's there in the first place. Through this day, and these coping mechanisms, we learn more about what brought her here, and what she's running away from.

The community of collaborators we have working on this are all eager to get back to work in a difficult time in our industry, of course- but this story in particular, we're devoted to telling. It's not only because of the rare opportunity to create in this time- it's because we've all interacted, in some way, with this same feeling of loneliness from this cultural moment. And maybe you have too. We've all had to sit with ourselves in this time and learn something more, something deeper, about who we are, and who we would like to be. We've had to confront the things in our nature, the things about us that sometimes feel chronic, as well as our experiences, our history, our past. All the things that compose our character. And from that, we've asked the question- where do we go from here? How do we move on?

When you support the telling of this story you're doing a few things: firstly, you're supporting artists. It's no secret our industry has been impacted by this virus, and in supporting young artists, you're also helping in a practical way- your donation could mean pay, food, rent, for a creative otherwise out of work.

You're additionally helping provide for the safety of those on set. While this set is small, it's still, of course, a risk. It is vital to us to adhere to SAG production guidelines, despite our being a non-union production. That does require some basic resources (double masks, personal sanitizers, cleaning materials, etc). We similarly have a COVID professional on set to help with this. So this contribution, in particular, is absolutely vital. Our Health Safety Manager, while amazing, simply cannot provide the type of care, resources, and oversight we require to keep everyone safe without your help.

But even as well as that, when you support this story, you're elevating a larger conversation not frequently discussed in this way- where do we go when we feel so alone? And how do we begin to connect when we're so frightened of being hurt? Are we even capable of connecting in the way we want to, after all we've gone through? Is it worth it?

In supporting this story, you're allowing an artistic voice for people to speak to some of what we've been individually, and universally, tackling. Loneliness in isolation, and fear, and navigating trauma (both collective and personal). And you're finding yourself part of a community of people who want to share some of that vulnerable, incredible human-ness together. Welcome! Thanks for connecting.
