PACE, a dramatic short film, explores the relationship between girls and their bodies. As 15-year-old Ellie is confronted about a suggestive picture being sent around school, she tries to fit in with the older crowd to get away. Soon she discovers growing up is more of a process than a decision.

Mission Statement

The way girls' bodies are perceived changes the way the world interacts with them and the way they interact back with the world. We wanted to make a film showing teenagers coming to terms with this. PACE was written as a reflection on the assumptions and expectations put on young women.

The Story

The Story

PACE is a story by girls about girls. Earlier this year, a high school swimmer in Alaska blew the competition out of the water in her 100-yard freestyle. She should have won, but found she was disqualified when she got out of the water due to the way her swimsuit fit her body. Written by Natalie Kulick in her "Writing the Short" class, PACE shows how girls like her are affected by how their bodies are perceived by adults and our peers.

The Team

Our director, editor, director of photography, and producer are all female filmmakers. Our team is comprised of a diverse group of Boston University students who devoted their time and effort to a feminist story.

If you would like to know more information about where your money goes, feel free to email us at [email protected] for a full copy of our budget and expenses! We want to be as transparent as possible to our supporters.

Risks & Challenges

At this point, our pre-production and production has wrapped! Everything has been shot, and we're moving on to editing, scoring, and colorgrading. We already have a rough cut and are ready to move into the last stages of post-production. This is good news for you because most of our challenges have already passed and there is practically no risk.

We had a lot preparation to make sure that we spent our money responsibly, since members of the team spent their own rent and tuition money to cover initial costs. Your donation will help us students!

What’s Next?

After we raise funds, we will work until our final screening in May to get PACE just right. From there, we will begin to submit to film festivals and look into distribution! Very cool!
