Mission Statement

We are committed to bringing attention to ever growing problem of sex trafficking and it's victims. We also value diversity, our team being made up of a female writer-director and an international crew.

The Story

There are thousands of human slaves in the world...Vera is just one more.

Hay miles de esclavos en el mundo... Vera es solo una más.

After a terrible loss Jon is looking to escape his currently reality. Vera is a young Romanian woman who has been deceived and forced into prostitution. When they meet they will be compelled to make decisions that will change them forever.

Pasărea tells the story of a two young people who meet one another at a very dark moment in their lives.  Vera is a young Romanian woman who has been lied to, hurt, deceived, trafficked and ultimately forced in prostitution.  Jon is a young Spanish man who has suffered a major loss in his life and it's his desire to escape reality that leads him to Vera. They don't know it, but their chance meeting will change them both forever.

Connecting to the Reality

When we hear statistics about the unfathomable number of human slaves in the world it can become numbing and feel very distant. Pasărea brings the reality of sex trafficking into relatable terms, making it something we can connect to and begin to understand on a deeper, more personal level. The hope behind the film is to humanize the people involved -the victims and the clients.  By doing this we can analyze this situation as a society and have conversations that will lead to change rather than creating division.

Beyond this, the film aims to help us look past the stereotypes attached to sex trafficking and its consumers, but rather see our common need as human beings, seeing each person as an equal. Without this common understanding we can be lead to do unspeakable acts, and with it there is hope for change. We want to bring hope and light to what often seems like an insurmountable problem.

An Awareness Tool

From the beginning we have been working with several different NGOS all around Spain and Romania discussing the realities of sex trafficking to get all the details right for the film. Since then the idea has always been to create a resource that they would be able to use in their awareness work. By helping us finish this film you are directly serving these NGOs that will use the film to educate and bring awareness to this issue where it is most needed.

ROMANIA

Whereas Spain is a destination country for trafficked women, Romania is a capture country where vulnerable women are lured by sex trafficking mafias. It is a sad reality for young women in poor rural towns of Romania-there isn't much hope of a future and that is when the promises of young men, who often pretend to be their boyfriends, easily lure them into their trap. If we go past our minimum campaign goal by at least $1,500, we will partner with NGOs in Romania to do awareness campaigns rural towns using the film as an educational resource for awareness.

RUMANIA

THIS FILM IS 99% FINISHED

We are in the final stages of post production and this film is SO close to taking off, we just need the fuel- YOU!  With your help we can finish the film (quickly!) and get it where it needs to be - in front of audiences and in the hands of anti-human trafficking NGOs!

Let's talk numbers

As you know we have already finished shooting the film, so you might be wondering what we are raising funds for. We are raising funds to cover some post production expenses and a significant amount to cover the costs of film festival submission and distribution fees (you have to pay a fee to enter your film into a film festival) . By having a budget for this we will have a greater chance of having the film screened in different festivals in Spain, Europe and other places in the world. Bringing this film into the professional film world is also a goal of ours, we think it's important to  create a discussion around this topic with others in the film community.

As we've said before, if we get past our goal of 3,000 we will take those extras funds and plan a trip to Romania to do awareness work. We would like to raise an additional 2,000 euros (2,500 USD) to travel to Romania with at least 2 people to cover flight and travel expenses during a 1 week period.
