Mission Statement

This story spotlights service workers, specifically ride-share drivers, and the positive impact they have in our day-to-day lives. While also highlighting the importance of openness and honesty involving mental health, and reminding us to check in on one another.

The Story

Larry is a rideshare driver who spends his time connecting with passengers and making their days brighter with his nuggets of wisdom and sense of humor.

On this particular day of driving, we meet passengers Elise, Gavin, and Bryce … each of them sharing parts of their personal stories with Larry and receiving a refreshing and much needed pick me up from him.

However, beneath the surface, he’s struggling with issues in his home life and many are unaware of the frown hiding behind his smile. Larry’s story is a reminder that sometimes the one who picks up everyone else, needs to be uplifted the most.

*** THE CALL TO ACTION TO OUR SUPPORTERS ***

We are raising $7,500 for the production phase of Pick Me Up. We need pledges/donations to reach at least 80% of our goal in order to receive the money we raise and bring this film to life.

We are currently in pre-production for Pick Me Up. The script and locations are locked, our core team is assembled, casting is underway, and our film date is set for September in Cleveland OH. This fundraising campaign and your contribution is our next crucial step. It will directly support production costs including crew stipends, equipment rentals, location fees, transportation, food, and set design. All integral components that will allow us to bring Pick Me Up to life with the highest production quality.

Once funded and filmed, the project will enter post-production in the beginning of October 2025, with a target completion date by the end of January 2026. After that, we plan to submit to film festivals to share this story with wider audiences across the country and globally.

If we surpass our goal, our stretch funds will go toward:

  • Post-production enhancements
  • Festival submission fees (to over 15+ festivals)

Stretch Goal: $8,000 – Post-Production & Festivals

Reaching our stretch goal of $8,000 would help us to cover post-production and festival expenses. This includes editing, sound design, original music, and color grading.  Additionally, it would help us submit to major film festivals and assist with travel costs so members of our team can represent the film in person.

Here is a breakdown of our timeline:

  • Development (April – June 2025): We’ve done multiple revisions of the script and connected with industry professionals within our network to help lay the creative foundation for the film.
  • Pre-Production (July – August 2025): We’re currently finalizing casting, meeting with location management, and prepping for our shoot.
  • Production (September 2025): Filming will take place September 25-28 in Cleveland OH.
  • Post-Production (October 2025 – January 2026): Editing, sound design, color correction, and scoring will bring Pick Me Up to life.
  • Release (2026): We’ll begin festival submissions and host a PRIVATE screening (via Kinema) as soon as post is complete. Following our final festival screening, we will host an exclusive viewing (via YouTube) prior to the film’s official public release.

This film is a labor of love for us all, and a dream come true for many of us. We have a diverse crew and cast of ethnicities and backgrounds. Some of us have been in the film industry for years, and others this will be their first time on set making a project that has their name attached. Additionally, this film speaks to an audience who themselves are also diverse and oftentimes undervalued, under-appreciated, and deserve to have a spotlight placed on the kindness they display on a daily basis. Lastly, this story rings the bell to a resounding message: Check on your people! It’s a call to action for us to prioritize conversations surrounding our own mental well-being as well as that of our family, friends, and those we encounter along our journeys.

The next best way to support our project? Help us spread the word! Sharing on social media, forwarding an email, or simply telling a friend can go a long way. Your voice can help us reach new audiences and build the momentum we need. We’re so grateful for your support—it truly makes a difference!
