The Story
Set in a multimedia world of magical realism, Plasma will tell the story of a gender non-conforming agoraphobe who wishes upon a star to come to life. When a beautiful star girl named Plasma emerges at their window, they realize that to keep their newfound love, they need to save the star girl from the evil Mr. Sun who threatens to take her away forever.
This project's writer and director is a queer multiracial first-generation American who strives to discuss difficult situations within fantastical settings. This story will shed light on experiences that are often either underrepresented or misrepresented in mainstream media. The protagonist is a non-binary person struggling with mental illness, but their story isn't a tragedy -- it's a fantasy.

Inspired by the beautiful visual oddities of the Club Kid movement and the multifaceted ability of moviemaking, this film will be multimedia, incorporating stop motion animation with the stunning visuals of 16-millimeter film. A large part of the funding will go towards production design, given the fantastical nature of the story. We want to give a variety of artists an outlet to express themselves by completely constructing the world in which this story will take place. We also believe that shooting on film will be integral to the aesthetic and shooting process of this story, and a large part of our funding will go towards acquiring and developing our film stock. The rest of the funds will of course go towards cast and crew safety, ensuring transportation and food for everyone, as health and happiness are our utmost priority. The last main section of funds will be allocated towards distribution, ensuring our story can reach and inspire as many audiences as possible.
