CHARACTERS
Vivian Downey - the Country Club Karen
Dragon Woods - the Professional Athlete
Darby - the Wild Card
Allen - Dragon's Stoic Caddie
Amy - Vivian's Beleaguered Assistant
Dragon is prepping for her PGA tour with her caddie. Vivian is playing some holes before her charity luncheon, assistant in tow. And Darby - well she doesn't know quite how she got there.
What the fuck is wrong with us?
See - this is how I think - I was house sitting for my cousin who has very athletic daughters, into ALL the sports. I was hanging around all this sporting equipment, especially the golfing gear, thinking
"I wonder how many ways one could fight with these?"
I reached out to two other up and coming action actresses - we all needed slick footage to showcase our skills - highlighting both the technical, the brutal, the comedic and the character driven possibilities. And thus this strange story was born.
Because of our 'special set of skills', we've all been slightly pigeon holed as bad-asses, angry or intense women - which isn't necessarily bad. But in the current climate we wanted to have some fun in the creative process. We've been giggling and grass staining our way through production. We'd like to make you laugh as well.
Sometimes silliness doesn't feel very profound - but honey - in this economy? in this media environment? - stupid uncomplicated joy is a rare gem ...
Do we really need your support NOW?
Yes - NOW. We're in post production. We fronted the production budget out of our meager paychecks to get us this far. The film is picture lock and going through color grading, sound design and vfx. That means this film WILL be made but we need your help to carry it over the finish line. No matter what - artists are gonna art. And we will bootstrap it however we can. But as traditional models of financing and distribution fall apart, it's the audience that gets to determine the production value of the finished piece. So ball's in your court or *shit wrong sports reference* or your swing?
*Ti! What's the right sports analogy to use here?!*
Where's all this cash going?
Your contributions determine whether we can back pay some of our collaborators who donated their skills, afford the basics for finishing post, and have a marketing budget to send this film off to the film festival circuit in style, maybe with a proper poster in tow. The asking amount covers post and some collaborator pay back. Anything 'over budget' goes towards film festivals - which if you've never done, is similar to applying for colleges, with entrance fees and backend efforts to drum up 'buzz'.
When can you see the film?
That's the beauty of funding a film in post, baby! We're so close. We are planning for our live in-person premiere on July 25, just in time to see it before Happy Gilmore 2, which is very much part of our film's stylistic lineage. Those with early access will be given a link the weekend prior. And we'll hit the film fest circuit just as fast as Vivian Downey can ask to speak to your manager.
How can you help?
You can make a contribution by making a pledge (we need to hit 30% within the first 48 hours + at least 80% of our crowdfunding goal to keep our funds). You can choose an incentive or make a pledge to a specific wish-list item. Give what you can. Seriously, no pledge is too small. Every dollar makes a difference in making our film possible!
We have some singular incentives including a round of golf with Ti (she's REALLY good), oracle card readings (Darby thinks she's psychic), legit 1-on-1 professional advice from other creatives, private links/events, behind the scene access, and so much more! There are also credits available that will get your company or name in the rolling credits -- 'cause who doesn't like some philanthropic bragging rights?
