Mission Statement

Please Consider explores the power dynamics of ambition, the quiet rage of unpaid labor, and the tiny, satisfying victories that come from knowing you’re smarter than the system.

The Story

Jen is an unpaid college intern at Pink Slate Productions, an established independent production company. As she delivers the teams matcha drinks, Jen spills them all over the producer, Miriam. Trying to make up for her mistakes, Jen try's going above and beyond for the rest of the day, going on obnoxious runs and being a yes-man. Miriam sends her to pick up lunch: Jen happily picks up expensive sushi and prepares it in the kitchen for everyone. She is ready for a much needed break and last day celebration when...

Young heartthrob Grant Hughes arrives, Miriam warmly greets him, and her assistant Rachel tells Jen to watch the phones while everyone eats. She is not invited. Equally starstruck and heartbroken, Jen sits alone and eats her cold pasta while listening to everyone enjoy their business lunch in the other room. Cleaning up after everyone, Jen finds a mess of picked-over scraps. She devours what's left in a moment of pure hunger.

At the end of the day, Miriam leaves without acknowledging Jen's last day. Tidying up before leaving, Jen finds printed out applications for her replacement. She also finds the leftover money from her runs in her jacket. Jen pockets the money and leaves the office for good.

Who is Pink Slate Productions?

Why?

"Please Consider" is for everyone who has felt disrespected or overlooked in their workplace. The small acts of exclusion and dismissiveness bubble up into hurt and retaliation. While Jen's act of taking the money is small, she chooses herself rather than the system. This film explores flaws in the industry that young people are often told to "put up with." I wish to capture the hunger Jen has to succeed in this world, while also showing just how hard it is to make it.

Jen navigates unnecessary errands and egos at Pink Slate Productions. Surrounded by cynical assistants, demanding producers, and movie stars, she observes the absurdity of the industry that she once dreamed of being a part of.

I was an intern, thrilled to be there, trying to find my footing in the chaos of a film production office. Every day felt like a dream, handling scripts written by people I admired, overhearing conversations that shaped stories millions would eventually see, watching the behind the scenes of movie-making right in front of me. I told myself that the long hours, the tension, the constant proving of worth were simply a part of the process.

But soon the cracks began to show. It began in the smallest moments: the way credit was withheld, the casual dismissals, the unspoken hierarchies enforced through tone and timing. Power and greed showed up behind every interaction. As an intern, you’re trained to doubt your instincts, to be grateful for access no matter the cost. That’s precisely why these stories matter. Naming these experiences isn’t about bitterness; it’s about pulling back the curtain on how creative industries teach young people what behavior is “acceptable." It’s about paying attention to patterns that often go unspoken, and making space for more honest conversations about how creative workplaces actually function.

PLEASE CONSIDER is a story about invisibility, and knowing when to play the game... or subvert it.

The Look

To convey Jen's separation from the rest of the company, we will implement isolating singles with an emphasis on the empty office space. We want to use the stale look of an office to our advantage by experimenting with shadows and fluorescent lighting.

Extreme close-ups will play a part in bringing us into Jen's perspective. These shots emphasize her senses: sight, touch, and smell.

How?

We are currently in the early stages of pre-production. We are scheduled to film for three days in June 2026, with all stages of post-production taking us to the end of the year.

We're looking to make this film on a total budget of $5,500. We already have half our budget secured, and are looking to raise the other half through your support here!

The largest budget items we are seeking support for are:

  • Food for our cast & crew
  • Insurance for our location
  • Production Design to bring the office to life

If you would like to donate directly to one of these items, you can do so in the 'Wishlist' Tab.

Our stretch goal is $3,000 on Seed & Spark, which would allow us to add further attention to detail when creating the world of Pink Slate Productions.

How You Can Help
