WHAT'S POPPIN?
We filmed the pilot of our award-winning series, QUEENS in 2018, and now we're gearing up to film our 2nd episode.

WHO DIS?
The Homies: Sarah, Gia, and Kim are best friends in their late-twenties, struggling to make ends meet while realizing that that being adults is a lot harder than their immigrant parents led them to believe. Sarah is set to check off the marriage box with her dream Asian doctor fiance, until she catches him in bed with another man. As her world comes crashing down around her, she has to figure out how to break the news to her traditional first-generation family, especially her ultra-conservative Taiwanese mother who set them up in the first place. Meanwhile, Kim, Bolivian-Korean, is fighting to move up the ranks of her law firm while still being seen as the token Asian woman. Gia, the free-spirited member of the group is forced to get a real job for the first time, since being an influencer is harder than it looks, and has to return to college, where all her classmates are still not yet legal to drink. Despite their differences, these three must rely on one another as they discover that their families’ ideas of relationships goals and career achievements don’t necessarily mean their success. Our show tackles the hilarious and complicated issues of being career driven women who happen to be Asian American, and very much NOT successful.
HOW WE'RE MAKIN A DIFFERENCE?
We're proud to say the cast and crew in our pilot were 60% women/gender non-binary, 50% Women Of Color, 73% People Of Color, and 3 leading Asian American characters. This series is written by, produced by, directed by, and stars all Women of Color. We constantly see the same statistics of low percentages of WOC in front and behind the camera, so we're changing that! It's been a high priority from the start that this series is about WOC and created by WOC.

WHAT'S GOOD WITH THE PILOT?
We premiered at Omni Cultural TV Fest in May and won Best TV Pilot Comedy. Next we will be screening at NJ Web Fest from Sept. 20-22 where we are nominated for three awards including Outstanding Comedy Series. We'll also be out in LA for the HollyShorts Monthly Screening (TBD).
Our original plan was to send our pilot to networks for development. For various reasons, that plan did not work out. But the need for more representation is still alive and well, and we're NOT going to wait for some Hollywood bigwig to greenlight us. We all know it took 25 years before Hollywood greenlit another Asian American film (#CrazyRichAsians #GoldOpen)
JOIN THE #QUEENSGANG
We switched gears and plan to launch the series over different streaming platforms. It's more important for the community to see full fledged Asian American young women who defy the "model minority myth" than waiting for a network to pick us up. And we want YOU to join us. Help us show that Asian American characters can go beyond our race, in fact, we're just your typical loud, brash New Yorkers.

WRITER, EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, LEAD ACTRESS (SARAH) - CINDY CHU
Cindy Chu is an award winning writer, actress, and producer from Queens. Her feature script, 69 BAYARD won 2019 Pitch Royale (featuring judges: Baz Luhrmann and Jason Blum). Her pilot script ANNA WONG was in 2nd round for 2019 Sundance Episodic Lab. Starting out as an actress, she received a MFA degree from the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University, and performed in Off-Broadway theaters, commercials, webseries, and more. She is a member of NYWIFT and Asian American Screenwriting Workshop. In her off-time, she loves solo traveling and running.
DIRECTOR, PRODUCER - NICOLE GOMEZ FISHER
Nicole Gomez Fisher is a writer, director and producer from Brooklyn, NY. Her feature film “Sleeping with the Fishes,” starred Golden Globe Winner Gina Rodriguez, Steven Strait and Ana Ortiz. “Fishes” aired on HBO from 2014-2016, and can currently be seen on Amazon Prime Video and Vudu. Nicole is a 3 time nominee for Best Director and 2 time winner for Best Director at the Brooklyn Film Festival, and the Imagen Awards founded by legendary television producer Norman Lear.
PRODUCER, LEAD ACTRESS (GIA) - CAROLINA DO
Carolina Do is a NYC-based actor, writer, and producer. A proud first-generation Vietnamese American, she strives to make art that is nuanced and character-driven. Film: Children of the Dust, Catfight. This fall, she will be making her Broadway understudying debut in Linda Vista by Tracy Letts. She is a co-founder of The Sống Collective, an artist based initiative to uplift artists from the Southeast Asian diaspora and provide creative spaces for artists of color to make work that add to the fabric of American theatre.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER - SHAMEL FADLOUN
Shamel Fadloun is a writer and actor from the Bronx. She recently graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA degree in Acting and currently is a member of Gotham Writer’s Workshop. Shamel is currently managing the Instagram for Queens the Series, and hopes to push narratives in order to shine a new and untold perspective on the Asian American community. With the industry’s advancements in diversity and inclusivity, she wants to continue to be a part of that conversation and strengthen the movement.
