The Story

TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS WELCOME!

River is freshly landed in Los Angeles with Hollywood aspirations. On his very first night in the city, he attends a party in Beverly Hills, determined not to waste a second of his new life. Brought under the guidance of his college friend Nathan, River starts to see his new world of possibilities. When he is ushered off to the bathroom to “really join the party,” he has a chance encounter with wanna-be actress Sarah. Over the course of a conversation, they experience a new high with each other and both realize they might have met someone more significant than they had anticipated.

READY & GO is a short film that blends the charm of romantic comedies, the pace of all-in-one-night narratives, and the traditional structure of sitcoms. My goal is to craft a story that is not only funny and romantic but also earnest in exploring the desires of the dual protagonists, River and Sarah.

The film unfolds in two distinct parts: the party and the conversation. In the first segment, the house party serves as a vibrant backdrop that captures the possibilities of River’s new life in Los Angeles. This bustling set piece, filled with a multitude of extras and dynamic camera movements, will be meant to show an ability to capture character through action.

In the second part, we transition to a more confined scene as River meets Sarah. Here, we remove away the distractions of the party, replacing it with a singular, meaningful conversation. As the world outside is muted, we focus on their burgeoning connection, reflected through genuine dialogue and the hopeful prospects that lie ahead.

The goal of READY & GO is to construct a fun situational comedy while introducing two characters whose connection you can't help but root for. When their paths separate, you'll understand why—and hopefully leave wondering about future possibilities.

Our story begins in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the camera serving as our guide through an exciting and energetic setting. We’ll bring this world to life through:

  • Versatile Camera Work that captures the vibrancy of the moment
  • Clear Mise-en-Scène to create a visually compelling narrative
  • Thoughtful Editing to maintain the energy and rhythm

Music plays a central role in READY & GO, much like it does at any great party. We’re excited to partner with local Los Angeles musicians to craft a soundtrack that captures the emotional core of the story. Music has been a key inspiration throughout the creative process, from the romantic longing of Van Morrison to the electrifying guitar riffs of The Strokes. This push and pull of melody resonate deeply in the dialogue and story, enriching the film’s overall tone and atmosphere.
