Almost every year on an island in the Salish sea, a few lucky kids get to learn how to play instruments and perform on a Fourth of July float in a small town parade. This year we are expanding Rock Shop! to include a short documentary filmmaker opportunity for 3 kids. Help us capture pure magic!

Mission Statement

Rock Shop offers music instruction and performance opportunity for young musicians at an accessible fee supplemented by generous scholarships. Young adults who have benefited from our Creative Arts Program volunteer time or are paid competitive rates to help teach yoga, dance and provide supplies.

The Story

Rock ShopZillah!

Rock Shop! has always been a fun and rewarding experience for a handful of kids who sign up. It includes 3 to 4 days of intense 3 hour music workshops, peppered with movement classes and farm animal petting sessions. Most often falling a few days before the 4th of July, rockers get to design and build  a float, help design and make costumes as well as learning to play and perform with a rock band. The culmination of camp is actually playing heavily amplified music down the main street of town to a crowd of thousands!

This year, we want to offer 3 spaces for young filmmakers to participate in the filming of a short documentary about Rock Shop! These filmmakers will be able to learn how to operate the camera and work on location and in a very dynamic film environment.

We need your help securing the funds to make this camp and all it's moving parts happen in a timely manner. Your donations will pay for scholarships for musicians and filmmakers, equipment rentals, craft services, float entries, supplies and labor and general production costs.
