Mission Statement
The Story
As an aspiring Indian filmmaker fortunate to find myself in the US, I aim to introduce more narratives that deal with the uncertainties revolving around the immigrant experience and the deep brotherhood formed amongst people who face similar trials to the Western audience. My goal with this story is to highlight what it means to lean on one's friends for support during times of instability and the toll that immigration-related unpredictability can take on an individual.
We're thrilled to be creating an authentic project that challenges stereotypes through humor and storytelling. Currently, we're in the development phase and forming partnerships with organizations supporting BIPOC writers, creatives, and crew. Your support through this campaign will propel our project forward, enabling us to bring our vision to life! This campaign is pivotal for us. Not only will it provide the necessary funding to kickstart physical production in June, but it's also a statement of solidarity with underrepresented voices in the industry. We're committed to showcasing diverse perspectives and narratives that are often overlooked. We're counting on your support to make this project a reality. Every pledge, follow, and share brings us one step closer to our goal. Your contribution isn't just financial; it's a vote for inclusivity and representation in media. Together, we can make a difference!
-Divit Jozef
Our campaign goal of $15,000 will help bring Roompact to life on the big screen. This budget will secure the rest of our production costs and allow us to film this ambitious story in its full scope. These funds will contribute towards essential pieces for our project, including the following:
Cast/Crew
- Our team believes offering fair compensation to cast and crew member demonstrates respect for their skills, time, and contributions to our projects. This is why it is an important tentpole in our budget. We strongly believe by prioritizing the financial well-being of those involved, we can create a more positive and productive working environment conducive to creativity, collaboration, and success!
Locations
- Funds for our location are vital in determining the best environment for our story to take place. With enough resources, we can ensure our location enhances the visual experience of our characters while managing production needs such as permits, transportation, and accommodations for cast and crew.
Production Design
- Resources in Production Design are pivotal in ensuring authentic cultural representation in Roompact. Funds towards this department enable us to accurately portray Mexican and Indian culture from the perspective of the three roommates. Designing our sets locations, and props will set the tone and mood of this film, enriching character interactions, developments, and perspective of our film.
Costume Design
- We are very excited to use specific clothing and attire for each of our characters to ensure they are authentically brought to life. The resources allocated here ensure the creation of authentic costumes, fabric, traditional garments, and materials. We strongly believe costumes contribute significantly to character development by aligning attire with individual story arcs which in turn foster empathy and connection with our audience. We also hope to use customers as a tool to convey symbolic meaning and messaging around themes of family, immigration, and cultural identity.
With your help, we can ensure fair compensation for our BIPOC writers, creatives, and crew, as we break stereotypes through humor and authenticity.
Should our campaign surpass 100% funding, we have exciting stretch goals in mind to enhance the quality and reach of our project. Stay tuned for updates as we aim for new heights together!
If we raise $8,000, we'll be able to cover the costs of further developing our script, pre-production, and crewing up!
If we raise $12,000, we'll be able to cover physical production costs.
If we raise $15,000, we'll be able to cover pre-production, production, and beginning stages of post-production.
If we raise $20,000, we'll be able to cover film festival submissions, Print and Advertisements, and a robust marketing campaign.
