Mission Statement

There are plenty of films about teenagers, struggling families, life, or grief. We want to tell a new story; one about a complex thirty-something just trying to figure life out. This isn't a big superhero plot line. It's a microscope on how one small moment can impact someone's view of their future

The Story

Jen has always been sure of who she is and what she wants from life. The challenge arises when she comes face to face with a decision she has already made up her mind about.

As she navigates through her 30s, the question presents itself, “Do I see myself as a mother?” It lingers in the back of her mind, but she comes to the same conclusion every time: no. The opportunity comes to confront her answer when she meets seven-year-old Max, a boy lost in a grocery store. Will Jen be able to play that role? Will she be able to put her feelings about her future aside in order to help him?

There are countless stories about adolescence, first loves, and the pain of growing up. But what about the people who are already adults and don't have life figured out?

"See for Yourself" explores the unexpected connections that shape us long after we've reached adulthood. It is a story about realizing that growth does not end at adulthood; rather, it continues through the people who challenge us and help us see ourselves more clearly.

Our film's core theme is human connection and that no one grows in isolation. We want to tell a story that allows our audience to realize that the person who changes your life could be someone you never expected to meet.

We need $15000 to make this film possible!

In order to make "See for Yourself" the best it can be, we need your help.

But where exactly is all this money going?

CASTING - “See for Yourself” has two lead characters: Jen and Max. Especially working with a child actor, we want our actors to be paid for all their hard work and talent.

EQUIPMENT - In order to make our film look the best it can be, we will be outsourcing special camera equipment and lights. And those pretty lights and cameras come at a pretty penny cost!

LOCATION - Our entire story takes place at one location: a grocery store. Because a film set has multiple moving parts, we need the entire grocery store to tell our story. This means that we need to close the ENTIRE grocery store for three days. Locking down a grocery store is a big task, and we want to make sure we pick the perfect one!

CREW AND PRODUCTION - Making a film takes a village! Crew members are hungry people. We want to ensure that our crew is happy and healthy on set with the best meals and snacks!

FESTIVAL SUBMISSIONS - We want to show our story to the masses! "See for Yourself" will be sent to film festivals in order for a wider audience to see our movie!

With the majority of our budget going into production costs, if we receive additional funds, we would be able to:

  • Submit to a wider network of film festivals
  • Create additional behind-the-scenes content
  • Enhance our post-production

Every dollar raised will be put into making the best version of "See for Yourself."

This is our final shot to show what we have learned during our time at film school.

"See for Yourself" is our CAPSTONE FILM, meaning that this our last production before graduating film school.

As this is our final production, we want to tell a story that is genuine and true. But telling a good story is not cheap. Paying for the perfect grocery store, feeding crew, and working with a child actor are expensive challenges.

With principal photography for "See for Yourself" approaching (middle of September), we need your help! While monetary support helps, there are other ways you can contribute!

The easiest way is to follow our crowdfunding campaign on Seed&Spark (this page!!). You can also follow our Instagram page: @seeforyourself_film.

Spreading the word will help us reach an even wider audience. Tell your friends! Tell your family! Or even tell your local grocery store!!

By supporting our crowdfund, you are making this movie alongside us! Thank you for all of your support!!

In August of 2023, she moved south to Atlanta, Georgia to continue her career and enrolled in the M.F.A. in Film and Television program at the Savannah College of Art and Design’s Atlanta campus. Alessandra Alinea is a filmmaker from New Jersey. Back in her hometown, she is a martial arts instructor. Growing up, she would record mini-films on her family’s home phone! Now, she is in Atlanta, Georgia, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film/Television at Savannah College of Art and Design. During her time at SCAD she has worked in a multitude of departments. Her freshman year she first started as a production sound mixer. After exploring the world of sound she worked as 1st Assistant Director for the majority of her sophomore year. Now she is testing her knowledge by entering the producing side of filmmaking. Every course in college, every set she has worked on, and every new skill she has gained at SCAD has led up to this film.

After falling in love with photography, Sebastian discovered his love for filmmaking in high school. With filmmaking being such a visual medium, he fell in love with crafting images as a cinematographer. He is excited by a project that uses the lens to show stories, as well as make the audience question how they view people and stories. He cannot wait to bring the visuals of See for Yourself to life.
