Two brother private investigators work to solve the death of a woman’s husband. A case local police concluded was a suicide. This is an independent detective story. In the style of British detective series Broadchruch & C.B. Striker. It’s a story filled with suspenseful twists & turns. Whodunnit?!

Mission Statement

This story is not only a thrilling & suspenseful mystery, but also social commentary about minorities growing up in foster care. I highlight my own struggles from being in the system. Many have had stories similar to mine and they deserve to be represented on the screen.

The Story

Stills

She Cries Murder is a neo-noir film that will be shot in and around Hartford, Connecticut.

A review of the script:

-The premise of two brother PIs taking on a challenging case is compelling. Their bond and backstory of growing up in foster care adds depth.

-There are strong hooks in the beginning that draw the reader in - the mysterious phone call from Gary before his death, Susan (his wife) pleading with the brothers to investigate.

-The case takes unexpected twists and turns, revealing complex motives and relationships between suspects. This adds intrigue and suspense.

-Action sequences with confrontations build tension and excitement. The climax and resolution deliver on this build up.

It's Gone Baby Gone meets Fargo

We want to give the film the quality this story demands. With a micro budget, we're going to make sure every dollar packs a punch.

Here's a breakdown of where we need assistance from our contributors. We have a camera, lights, and some audio equipment. The chart below shows the areas in which your contribution will help our film.

Most locations require a fee to allow filming. This takes up most of our budget. It is crucial that we secure the locations that have been scouted to capture the look and feel of the film.

We would love to compensate our actors and crew members for their time and commitment. It's a huge ask of these individuals. Many whom have to juggle a busy schedule with a full-time job.

Filming begins in March 2025 after the campaign ends. We'll film a couple of weekends in each month adjusting to individual schedules. We look to wrap production at the end of October before winter hits.

This film requires we add a few items of equipment to our production. Lavalier mics will help us capture crisp clear audio in busy environments.

We need assistance for props such as police uniforms, security outfits, walkie-talkies, badges, prop weapons, and make-up.

Most importantly we need help making sure people have something to eat. It can be as simple as pizza and soda at each shoot.

As of this moment we are preparing for our shoot on March 30th. We are shooting all the scenes at Jason’s apt/office. There are many scenes between Jason and Eddie as they work to solve the case and navigate their personal life.

This campaign will help us secure this location along with a few other locations that will cost a fee to shoot. The Webster in Hartford, CT for the club scenes, Al’s Pizza and Deli in Hartford, CT for the market scenes and MGM casino in Springfield, MA for the scene of the crime.

We aim to have this film shot by November this Year so we can release it at the end of spring 2026.

Each contributor of $10 will get a shoutout on social media! We also offer other incentives that offer more like the $50 advanced screening link to the film!

We cannot accomplish this without your help. We believe there's an audience for these types of stories.

In a sea of CGI filled superhero movies, help us tell a more grounded, thrilling story of heroics and justice.

We also have other great perks you can claim and also a custom contribution amount.

We want this to be a great experience for those involved with making the film and the audience watching it. It is important that we meet our goal so that we can help more stories like this get told. Smaller but powerful stories. We see too many big budget films with underwhelming stories. Helping a small film like this opens the door for other small films to get made.

  • If we come up short, then there is a potential risk of us cutting scenes out. The film doesn't feel as complete or there is not a big enough payoff at the climax to satisfy the viewer. It could diminish the overall quality of the film.

  • We're hoping this story connects with a lot of people. We hope to have a successful run in the festival circuit. We want to give hope to other independent filmmakers that it is possible to make a feature film without a bloated budget.
