Mission Statement

Cast 66.6% / Crew: 70% Women & POC . This film happened because directors Andrea Shreeman and Renny Grames met at Sundance 2019 and commited to each other's career advancement. Tapping our network for short scripts, we uncovered Marty Lang's brilliant thriller and knew it was a perfect fit.

The Story

The Story

When Renny Grames and Andrea Shreeman met at Sundance in 2019, it was a festival match! They quickly became commited to helping each other rise, and four short months later began looking for a short script to shoot. They chose award-winning screenwriter, Marty Lang's Side Effect (formerly Panacetlyne) about a greedy psychiatrist who over-prescribes the wonder drug Panacetlyne, then mysteriously starts exhibiting the side effects herself. In July, #SideEffectMovie was shot on location in Salt Lake City, where Renny and her husband Boston McConnaughey helm their production shingle, Storylands.
Editing for Side Effect is now 95% complete.

What We Need

You can only get so far on sweat equity! Most of the editing work on Side Effect is complete. But we do have some detail work left on sound and visual effects. A lot of festivals are now requiring a 5.1 sound mix, so we need to get that done too. And then we're off on our festival tour. We're asking you to help cover the cost of festival submissions, marketing materials, deliverables and travel to our premiere. See our wishlist for the breakdown of costs associated with these pie slices.
We also need supporters, friends, family and fans to click FOLLOW up above, and help spread the word about Side Effect. Why does "just a follow" matter? Seed & Spark is an amazing platform for filmmakers, and once we hit major follower milestones, this unlocks over $9000 in gifts for our campaign, including complimentary entry into 15+ film festivals, a film marketing consultation, discounts on gear and more!

What You Get

We want to personally thank each and every one of you for your contributions. When you support the Side Effect campaign, you can receive a wide variety of perks, including: a private link to view the film, a ticket to our one-hour filmmaking Master Class, advice from a licensed psychotherapist, and invites to all our parties!

The Impact

We are committed to shining a light on the importance of good mental health care. We invite you to help us spread this message far and wide through a worldwide release of the #SideEffectMovie.
