The Story
We are not trying to make another boxing movie. ULISES is not the Mexican Rocky. This story is more than that. Growing up, when I was watching the news, they would talk about deaths from gang violence, and I couldn't help but feel that the victims were portrayed as a "statistic". We want to shine a light on the violence in Mexico and its effect on our people. In this case it's effect on ULISES. I want people to come out from the movie thinking that Mexico is much more than what appears on the news, but a place full of hard working people who always fight to get ahead.
The Story:

Let me tell you a little about the story…
Siempre En Tu Esquina is about ULISES, a 25-year-old retired boxer who used to be a nationally selected to represent Mexico in the Olympics. He retires at an early age when crime comes to his city and when he loses his brother, who was his best friend and coach. Dealing with the death of his brother, he leaves his life behind and moves to Canada in search of better opportunities. Due to the trauma, he is full of anger and it causes him to lose control frequently. One night he gets into a bar fight, and CESAR who used to be ULISES' fan, intervenes, and welcomes him into his gym, offering him a job and a place to train.
During his stay, CESAR takes the opportunity to teach him about grief and how boxing is a responsibility and a tool to stay grounded. These teachings reach their climax when…
Well, you are just going to have to find that out for yourself!
WOW! I can’t believe that after all this time, I’m starting this campaign to make one of my dreams come true!
Hola! My name is Sebastian Hernandez Reza, but you can call me Seb! I am a proud Mexican and I’m so excited to tell you that after a lot of work, my team and I decided to bring my short film out of the pages and onto the screen.

Like a good Mexican, I am someone who loves his country and someone who would do anything he can to see a better Mexico; a Mexican inspired by other Mexicans, who even with the sad reality that a lot of families suffer because of crime, they wake up every day to give the best of themselves for their families.
I’ve spent 2 years in film school trying to figure out what I wanted to do for the famous “Thesis Film” trying to show the greatest of Mexico and how it is one of the most beautiful countries on this planet.
But how can say that in just ten minutes?! Well, let’s start with: "What makes Mexico one of the best?". You probably already know the answer, and yes you are right. It's the people! Let’s be honest, we all read the news, and even though Mexico is amazing, there is a lot of crime going on and sometimes when you hear it on the news, I feel as though these people and families are just viewed as numbers or statistics. That’s why with Siempre En Tu Esquina is going to shine a light on the violence in Mexico and its effect on our people, mixing my 3 favourite things in 1: Mexico, Film and Boxing.
I inhale and exhale Mexico wherever I go, and I'm following the steps of all the Mexicans that I know: I will stop at nothing to achieve my goals.
I can't promise you that I am the best person to tell this story, but I can assure you that I have spilled my heart and soul out for years on this project, and I am the only one who knows the characters and story inside and out!

Siempre En Tu Esquina will be playing around a theme that imposes a threat on our world: the danger of ignorance and mental health. Throughout the story, ULISES is living his life with anger, unaware of the emotions that he is feeling. My goal is to show that the people in the news are real people with real problems and that there is an importance to our mental health. It's inevitable that we must live with our griefs, but we don't stand alone. We can always reach out.

We want this movie to feel real and honest to what the characters are experiencing. That means shooting on location, in real boxing rings and in the streets of Toronto in the middle of winter. We are going for a dark, gloomy style. We want the audience to feel the despair and hopelessness of ULISES, but also the hard work and dedication he puts into his craft and to his comeback.

We are currently in the middle of Pre-Production and have until February 9th to prepare everything before we begin principal photography. We are so close to shooting this short film, all we need left is help from you! With your generous contributions, we'll be putting money into the essential parts of our production, such as: Locations, Food, Transportation, Props, Set Dec, Makeup and Technical Equipment! We've budgeted for $3,000.00 and we know that with this money, we will be able to cover all costs and give YOU the best version of this film that we can!

Make sure to help us out by following, pledging and supporting our campaign! We are so close and we can't do this without you! From our team here at Siempre En Tu Esquina, we want to say a big THANK YOU!
