This web series is about a group of friends who are at a crossroads of defining who they are and navigating their relationships. We believe our audience may see the same issues they face in their own dating lives and may receive light hearted relationship advice through our characters.

Mission Statement

CapiSHE Productions strives to make opportunities for people of color while connecting our stories with all people. We tell stories that showcase black people not as tropes but as human beings with shared human experiences. Situationships will flaunt the friendship that ties black women together.

The Story

STORY

Have you ever been in that limbo state of dating? The part where you are well past the first dates and hanging out but just before making things official? Well, for those of us who sit in that phase a little too long, we call this a situationship.

Situationships is a web series that will follow four friends who are navigating their love lives while maintaining their friend group and the careers they are individually trying to build. They will each explore who they are in their relationships and figure out what they want and ultimately what they should expect from the partner of their choice. If you enjoy shows like Harlem, Insecure, Twenties and Girlfriends, we know you will love Situationships.

Situationships will be a fun, vibrant, comical insight into how the relationship scene can be for women and how to deal with the men who are available.

Meet Our Characters

Taryn is a natural “hair-lista” and a no-nonsense kind of chick.  She loves big hair and mixing patterns. She is a writer for fashion magazine, “Flair.”

Taryn is no longer following her heart when it comes to men and giving her intuitions over to God. If Jesus didn’t send him, she’s not interested!

She is the moral and logical compass for her friends which makes her a little judgy, but her intentions are good.

Monica is awkward, insecure and doesn’t know she’s a beauty. She loves fashion and writes for fashion magazine, “Flair.”

Monica’s insecurities leads her to find validation in men. She’s been dating Nick for 2 years, but their relationship has yet to be defined and is going nowhere. She’s too caught up in his potential to realize she’s wasting her time. Monica fears having to start over and re-enter the dating pool, so she clings to this one out of desperation.

Monica is the friend that is down for whatever. She is loyal and protects her friends. Their fight is her fight.

Brittney is a subtle fashionista but loves color. She is a stylist who hopes to blaze a trail through the fashion world by building her clientele and networking with other stylists.

When it comes to men, she’s dying to be loved. She’s been dating Royce in secret for a year but wants to be public. She wants more out of their relationship, but she’d rather have something than nothing.

Brittney is a low-key person. She doesn’t mind hanging out by herself. Her friends are in each other’s business and she would prefer hers be private.

Cara is a community activist. She cares about bringing awareness to social and economic issues. Her daily concern is edifying the black community.

Men are a yes, but relationships are a no! Cara is not interested in committing to anyone. Men are for pleasure and maybe the occasional conversation. She’s happy being single and mingling.

Cara is the free spirit of the group. She’s witty and sarcastic and calls out nonsense when she sees it. She challenges her friends on their preconceived notions that women must be wives or tame their sexuality.

So...Why Us? Why this Story? Why Now?

We're fortunate enough to call many women our friends. Between their crazy relationship stories and ones of our own, we wanted to tell authentic stories through our characters. Often times, your friends are the ones you go to in times of trouble, seeking advice. Even when they call you out on your sh*t, they're also the ones who will check on you, lift you up and support you with love. We're excited to share our point of view of what friendship looks like. This story is for the millennial Christian, the wild child, the introverted extrovert, the insecure baddie, or anyone who can relate to navigating their love lives all while still adulting.

Stretch Goals

Currently, we're in the process of gearing up for production. All contributions raised will go toward production and allowing us to create a project with quality and excellence.
