Mission Statement

Up to 30% of kids are bullied at school each year. Somebody's Hero addresses the pain of bullying while inspiring kids to never stop dreaming and to believe in what they can achieve. Told with humor and love, Somebody's Hero shows that anything is possible and that we are all born to thrive.

The Story

"I saw my chance to do something good....And I took it.

I took my chance."

-- Mitchell Alan Parker, from the script of Somebody's Hero

Twelve-year-old Mitchell Alan Parker dreams of becoming a cop like the heroes

on his favorite TV show, Downtown Justice. He plays make-believe with

unwavering passion, supported by his devoted father, Ben, who is raising him

alone after the death of Mitchell’s mother from ALS. At school, however,

Mitchell is relentlessly bullied for his weight, leaving him insecure and isolated.

After a particularly humiliating day, Mitchell unexpectedly gets the chance

to act on his dreams when he steps in to save his neighbor, Rose,

from her abusive ex-husband. Risking his life, Mitchell discovers his

own courage and begins to see himself as the hero he’s always wanted to be.

Somebody’s Hero is a coming-of-age story about resilience, bravery,

and finding strength in the face of fear and ridicule.
