The Story
Hey! It’s Sophie! Thank you so much for checking out my page. :)
You can help make the world premiere of my show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival be as successful as it can be by becoming a donor. At least 80% of our goal must be reached to keep the funds that are raised. All funds raised will go towards the needs of the show, as listed in the “Wishlist” tab. Thanks again!

Sophie thought they had everything: a life in Brooklyn, a book deal before the age of thirty, and their soulmate of four years. When the pandemic forces Sophie and their girlfriend, Lily, to move NEXT DOOR to Lily’s parents, Lily gets a job two days later…in Pennsylvania. Tormented by the “space” between the two, Sophie’s personified OCD, aka Oliver Charles Davis, reappears and supercharges the codependency imploding the relationship. Whoops.

Desperate to get their girlfriend back, Sophie hires a life coach on WithMyExAgain.net who explains the way to get back with an ex is to become the best version of yourself. Sophie and Oliver travel together toward Sophie’s new life, butting heads and belting out tunes as Sophie learns to love being alone (and maybe their OCD, too).

“Sophie Santos isn’t your average comedian…they detail points of their own life - with hilarious aplomb” - Entertainment Weekly

As everyone knows, even a one-person show is not possible without the help of a dedicated team. This show is directed by Heath Cullens (‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’, Bob Odenkirk’s, ‘The Making of Jesus Diabetes') and produced by Kimberly Peirce (writer/director of ‘Boys Don’t Cry’, ‘Carrie’, ‘Stop Loss’, and a soon to be announced major motion picture). The music is co-written by comedian, composer, and NY's Calvin Harris, James Harvey ('Prime Day'). There is also a UK team of dedicated producers under Wild Park Entertainment. The real? Sophie Santos… is Codependent would NOT be possible without every team member’s dedication and donation of their time that far exceeds what they are being compensated for. They know that this truly is a grassroots production that has the possibility to grow into something that inspires and touches audiences across the U.S. and worldwide babe! You can see more detailed biographies of everyone involved under the “Team” tab.

Getting any show into Edinburgh Fringe Festival is a huge accomplishment in itself, but there are major expenses for a young artist. There are venue fees, travel fees, and fees to simply make sure the production can be performed for the ENTIRE month of August. Objectively, this show is a great investment for both theater lovers and supporters of the LGBTQ+ community. And who doesn't love lesbians?!
The Underbelly Jersey Room is one of the top venues of the entire Edinburgh Fringe Festival and will have a wide range of viewership.
Budget Breakdown
Edinburgh Show Fees & Creative Team - $3,500
Underbelly Jersey Venue, Technician, Producer, Lighting Director, Composer, Mic and Lighting rental for 26 shows.
Travel, Accommodation - $2,000
Flights to and from Edinburgh, lodging (in 8 person flat), insurance, travel to and from previews in London.
Marketing & Promotion - $1,500
Printing life-size 3 ft wide x 5 ft high posters, flyers, venue artwork, merch, printing, and poster design. All to create visibility for the show.
Edinburgh Festival Registration - $800
This is the registration fee that gets me into the festival and into the official Fringe brochure.
Gear - $500
For Autotune pedal, backup cords, speaker to practice songs (gotta hear the autotune), and additional pedal in case of emergencies. No pedal. No OCD.
Props & Costumes - $200
Set piece for autotune pedal, Props for songs (like the Spaceman night light star projector), costumes, etc.

My 8,500 goal is the absolute bare minimum to perform in Edinburgh.
If I get to 9,500, I would get to work with an amazing publicist that truly believes in this project. She’s worked on award-winning shows like Michelle Wolf’s, Alex Edelman’s, and Glenn Moore’s to name a few!
A publicist in Edinburgh is essential because she helps me stand out amongst the thousands of other great shows. She gets the press to come and review the show which helps us fill the house. It ALSO attracts major producers to attend which helps with getting Off-Broadway runs. She’s already had 30+ meetings getting the word out.
If I get to 10,500, I can pay for my rehearsal space which will be essential overseas. I’ll also be able to hire a street team so we can cover more ground (we love manpower).
If I get to 11,500, that will give me a small stipend to eat since I will be performing every day and won’t be able to earn money at my day job back in the US. (Yes, I’ve been “copy editing employee of the month” for 3 months in a row. I’ll have to go back to conquering after the fest).
If I get to 12,500, I can stay in the UK to do another round of shows in London and Ireland after the festival, which will keep the momentum going (and help us secure an Off-Broadway run)!
You can find more details of these budget items in the "Wishlist" tab.

If you are interested in donating, there is more information in the "Incentives" tab. We have fun show-themed merch and other giveaways that are sick! There are several tiers of donation levels to match every budget. Including puppies. My personal fave is Congrats, You Won The Breakup. If you can't donate, even just sharing a link to this page will be so helpful to get this show across the pond.

If you’ve read this far...Congrats! Really. As someone with OCD, I had to read this three times. I am sure you are a supporter of this show and most likely a fan of Sophie in general. (Yes, this has been written by ME in the third person). Sophie can be found on Instagram, Facebook, and at www.sophiesantos.com. Share this fundraising page with your friends so that we can reach our goal together, and follow us for information on the status of the campaign and for information on upcoming shows before and after the Edinburgh Fringe Festival premiere.
After you follow our campaign, you can also share it on social media to help build our audience.
