The Story
Storyline
Set in the Wild West, Cassidy, a young cowgirl and brothel owner in her early 30s dreams of expanding her business beyond the prostitution industry. She sees a For Sale sign outside of an empty saloon owned by her rival Clint, who inherited the property from his late grandfather. As she enters Clint’s saloon, Clint is confronted by the Bank owner who tells him that he cannot afford to keep his saloon. Cassidy places an offer on Clint’s grandfather's saloon, but he tells her that his grandfather made him swear on his deathbed that he would never allow a woman to buy any of their properties. Buck, the town sheriff, busts into the saloon breaking the tension between the pair and forces Cassidy out of the establishment.
Buck and Clint conspire to trash Cassidy’s apartment, sending her a message to stay in her place. However, this fuels Cassidy’s anger as she returns to Clint’s saloon and challenges him to a duel. Cassidy ultimately wins the rights to her new saloon.

The Budget
We need to raise $2,500 to produce the film at a standard we're proud of and to ensure fair compensation for all team members, avoiding any exploitation of their efforts.

The Filmmaker and The Why
Through humor and wit, Gabbatha promises to challenge stereotypes while celebrating the resilience and spirit of the film’s female protagonist, offering audiences a refreshing and empowering perspective on the typical narratives of the Wild West.
In today's landscape of storytelling, our short film serves as a powerful testament to the diverse narratives yet to be explored in historical genres. By centering on a strong female protagonist navigating the challenges of the frontier, we aim to challenge traditional gender roles and inspire a new generation with her resilience and determination. Now more than ever, it's crucial to amplify stories that redefine history through inclusive and empowering lenses, resonating with audiences seeking representation and authenticity in narratives of strength and courage.
