Mission Statement

Our mission is to uplift underrepresented voices through honest, romantic storytelling that centers vulnerability, culture, and connection, proving that love stories are richer, more powerful, and more meaningful when everyone is seen.

The Story

I wrote Speak d’Amour because I was tired of searching for myself in the love stories I grew up watching and never finding her. Films like Two Days in Paris, French Kiss, and Emily in Paris taught me to dream about romance across cultures and borders, but they rarely included women who looked like me. I wondered why Black and Brown women were so often missing from those stories. So I decided to write one myself.

As a hopeless romantic, an actress, and a storyteller, I believe deeply in the power of love on screen. I believe women of color deserve to be seen as soft, adventurous, vulnerable, funny, and worthy of grand love stories. Speak d’Amour is my way of claiming that space. It follows Jasmine as she navigates language, distance, and desire, learning that love, like French, is beautiful, confusing, and worth the effort.

This project was born during a time when the world felt isolated and uncertain. During the pandemic, I challenged myself to learn French and step outside my comfort zone as an artist. That challenge became this story. What started as a personal experiment grew into a film about courage, connection, and choosing love even when it feels complicated.

Now is the time to make this film because representation still matters. Tenderness still matters. Stories that center joy, intimacy, and emotional honesty for people who are often overlooked still matter. Our team is committed to creating a film that feels authentic, thoughtful, and full of heart, both in front of and behind the camera.

By supporting Speak d’Amour, you are helping bring a love story to life that expands who gets to be seen as romantic, desirable, and worthy of being centered. You are supporting independent artists who are choosing to tell meaningful stories with care, intention, and integrity.

Funding will go directly to filming the remainder of Speak d'Amour. We have finished two-thirds of the film and look forward to final shoot date in September. Our campaign is for $5,000. The majority of funding will go to paying a small crew and cast for their talent and time. Below is a breakdown of our budget.

Breakdown of the budget:

Crew and cast- $3,000

Insurance and Permit- $1,350

Rental Equipment- $400

Craft Services- $150

Transportation- $100

We are adamant about finishing our film and we will keep fighting for the film and the message we believe in. After our September shoot, we will go to post production and then host a small premiere. During that time, we will submit Speak d'Amour to as many festivals possible- not just in the U.S. but to other countries around the world, such as France, Canada and other Francophone countries.

This film is about more than Paris, French, or romance. It’s about believing in love. Believing in yourself. And believing that our stories deserve space in the world.

Thank you for believing in this one.
