The Story
SPUR OF THE MOMENT A soulful dramatic comedy about choosing now. A comedian’s origin story about finding his voice, overcoming doubt, and the moment that changed everything.
THE COLD OPEN
What if the moment you’ve been waiting for… is already here?
Spur of the Moment is a grounded, heartfelt comedy about an aspiring comedian, Rob Bishop, who takes the stage for the very first time—and how that single decision sets off a chain of life-altering events. Through laughter, heartbreak, and the wild unpredictability of life, Rob’s journey becomes a mirror for anyone who's ever wondered, “What if this is it?”
Set in San Antonio, Texas, and rooted in the rhythms of Black Southern culture, the film captures what it means to slow down, stand up, and be fully present.
WHY US? WHY THIS? WHY NOW? We’re five creatives from five different cities—actors, musicians, filmmakers, parents, and everyday dreamers—united by the belief that stories about ordinary people doing something extraordinary matter.
We’ve all faced those “someday” moments. This film is our way of saying: someday is now.
We’ve poured over $20,000 of our own money into this project because we believe in the story and each other. We believe in showing up for the moment. And we believe people are hungry for films with heart, humor, and purpose.
NEXT: WHERE WE ARE & WHERE WE’RE GOING We’re currently in pre-production with a completed script and core team assembled. Our plan is to shoot for 15 days: 13 in San Antonio and 2 in Los Angeles. Funds raised here will support crew, equipment, production design, post-production (editing, sound, color), and key elements like stylized animation and music licensing.
When finished, the film will premiere in San Antonio with a special benefit screening for Mays Cancer Center. After that, we’ll launch a targeted festival run and digital release.
What your support makes possible:
A full indie production rooted in community and culture
Paid crew and cast who’ve dedicated themselves to telling this story with care
A finished, festival-ready film with soul, polish, and purpose
Stretch Goal: If we exceed our $85,000 goal, additional funds will go toward:
More stylized animation sequences
Expanded music licensing
Targeted marketing to amplify distribution
