Sundance Baby
Los Angeles, California | Film Short
Comedy, Documentary
Sundance Baby is a comedy of errors, based loosely on Prance and Evan's lives creating ~viral~ content in Los Angeles... and how much it sucks. Jk. They love it. Sort of. This short is the culmination of every difficulty the two have had trying to film anything funny in LA. Sisyphus could never.

The Story
Sundance Baby Script: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U_EuUOS2I03XCDj3nPqQE8b45qId_skZ/view
Our story starts as Evan and Prance start the first day of production of their short film Young, Queer and Black in Los Angeles, which Evan (a 30 year old straight white man) wrote. The script is described as “Euphoria meets Atlanta meets Insecure meets The Wire.” It is not that.
The two longtime friends both have a lot to lose if this doesn’t go well. Prance financed the film with money he saved from working 60 hours a week at a local branch of Charles Schwab for over six years. Evan has claimed he will move back to New Jersey and kill himself if the short does not get accepted into Sundance.
Things head south immediately on set when the entire ensemble walks during the first line of the first take after learning that Evan has only paid one actor, a handsome content creator named Perris. From there things only get worse. As more of the originally diverse cast members leave the set, Evan is forced into an endless cycle of replacing them with increasingly old and white extras he has hired from craigslist.
It quickly becomes clear that Evan’s promise to let Prance co-direct is a lie and that Evan has spent significantly more of Prance’s money than he initially let on due to his TikTok proficiency not translating to filmmaking at all. Things come to a head and the two must make a difficult decision, continue the production and destroy their friendship forever, or preserve their friendship and fail to get into Sundance.
We're making this short because we want to create something inclusive, original, heartfelt, and really really really funny. All of the proceeds raised will go to paying the cast, crew, and post production team. Prance, Myself and Demi are not taking a dime! Below you can see some graphs that we’ve included of how the money will be spent.
This short will be a proof of concept for a feature length script to Sundance Baby to show production companies who are interested in original, fast paced and funny films made for the screen. Once we partner with a company, we can move forward making the feature length film. The short you see here, in combination with the feature length script, is a winning combination for funding. Help us make this thing!

Hi all! Very excited to be a part of this project, and doubly excited that Prance and Evan trusted me with this script. I’ve been a part of the LA comedy scene for a decade now, and made a lot of projects that have helped me amass a following online, but often find myself becoming restless and changing directions with my creative output, not wanting to be stuck doing the same thing for too long. I’ve been a TV writer for 7 years and directing for the better half of my life but rarely feel confident enough in someone else’s work to be able to tackle directing something I didn’t write, but Prance and Evan’s script is so fun and well-plotted that the thought of getting to add my flair to it genuinely seemed like a great opportunity. I’m super thankful to any and all of you who are able to help support us in making this!
Evan Walter (Austin Comedy Festival Script Finalist) - Writer/Actor
I’m so excited to have finalized this script and be one step closer to having y’all see it. I’ve been doing standup and improv in LA/NYC for a few years. I’ve had some scripts win some awards and have been lucky enough to have a few dumb lil videos go viral on TikTok and the opportunity to direct some commercials as a result. But, like a lot of other people trying to break through in comedy, I’ve truly put hundreds of hours into scripts that will never see the light of day for one reason or another. That’s what makes this project so exciting, it’s one of the rare times something gets to actually be made. I think the script is good, funny and dumb in the right ways and I’m so excited to show it to y’all. Thanks for the support!
Prance (New York Comedy Fest) - Writer/Actor
Hey guys, thanks for checking out our seed and spark. I've been in the la and new york comedy scene for a couple years now and still trying to get my foot in the door. Having built a large social media following because of my comedic talents has been really gratifying but it does leave you feeling kind of stuck and creatively unfulfilled. Sundance Baby is something I've poured an ungodly amount of time into because I think it can be really special and cool. Hope you think the same and join us on this ride!
