In a world full of superpowers, Harper is a law student and the newest associate at the biggest firm in Megalopolis. They work with colorful characters like Mal Aria, the vampire lawyer bitten by a radioactive mosquito, and LOIS, a.k.a. Law Office Integrated Systems, the AI who runs the office.

Mission Statement

We want SUPER SUITS to make you laugh and think, in that order! The two queer women who founded Faustian Nonsense are also law grads, and want to share how fun and bizarre the law can be, while exploring some of the flaws in the system in an entertaining way.

The Story

The Faustian Nonsense network brings you SUPER SUITS, an audio comedy about the absurdity of U.S. law in an (even more) absurd universe, where superheroes and supervillains take to the courts as often as they take to the rooftops. This campaign will fund season one, consisting of 20 episodes already in their final stages of editing and ready for rehearsal to begin! Created by two J.D.s who are making good use of their law degrees!

Faustian Nonsense is a podcast network, an artist's commune, and an incubator for creative projects, all in one. FN was founded by Amelia Kinch and Jaclyn Seelagy, two J.D.s who like to call themselves "recovering attorneys." Disillusioned by the legal system, they realized what they really wanted to do was tell stories and make awesome things to entertain people. They created FN to move away from the Faustian bargains that indie creators often have to make in order to find an audience for their content.

At Faustian Nonsense, sound designers, script writers, audio editors, voice actors, musicians, and animators come together to create a variety of digital media content. Our mission is to create inclusive and well-developed podcasts, using our multi-faced production team, and also support small podcast creators by offering voice actors, audio editors, and marketers for hire. Founded during the pandemic, we're fully remote, with creators in six different countries all connecting over our love of storytelling.

You can check out Faustian Nonsense's work at faustiannonsense.com! All our podcasts are available for free on the major podcast platforms, or through our website. The team for SUPER SUITS includes the minds behind the horror comedy podcast JACK OF ALL TRADES and the actual play TTRPG podcast GHOSTS ON A TRAIN.

In the last year, the creators at Faustian Nonsense worked together on a unique challenge: we made A MIDSUMMER'S QUARANTINE, a Shakespeare adaptation set in 2020 New York, in 30 days! In the process we learned the delights of collaborative writing and production, which inspired us to take SUPER SUITS to ever more ambitious heights.

SUPER SUITS plays with the absurdity of the American legal system, in the absurd context of a superhero universe! The world is packed full of colorful characters:

Harper Hallo leads the cast! They're a third year law student and brand new associate at Smith, Schmidt, Smit, and Smythe, the biggest super-focused firm in Megalopolis. They're brilliant, ambitious, and eager to make their mark on the legal world, but they have a secret: their entire family is made up of active superheroes, and their mom is the biggest in Megalopolis: The Halo!

Harper is voiced by Jimothy Stewart, known for their Ace Attorney fan-dub work!

Malcolm Aria is Harper's boss, an old-school attorney. Centuries old. Oh, and he's a vampire, due to a nasty bite from a radioactive mosquito!

Malcolm is voiced by Ben Meredith, known for his work on Stellar Firma, The Magnus Archives, and Rusty Quill Gaming! Ben has previously worked with Faustian Nonsense on season two of The Lavender Tavern.

Bonnie Firestein and Cole Castillo are nine-year veterans of the Megalopolis legal system, and Harper's mentors at the firm. They're always spotted together--they live together, work together, and have a cat together. Yes, they've been in love for 9 years. No, they haven't noticed.

Bonnie is voiced by Marion Toro, known for her work as Oceanna in Mermaid High. Cole is voiced by Erin Lundquist, known for her work on the Doing Justice podcast.

L.O.I.S., or Law Office Integrated Systems, is the sophisticated A.I. who runs the offices at Smith, Smits, Smed, and Smithson. And if you ask her, she does all the real work around here!

L.O.I.S. is voiced by Rebecca Hansson, creator of BE NOT AFRAID, a podcast in the Faustian Nonsense network!

Last but not least, our guide through the SUPER SUITS world, our Narrator! Who moonlights as the stenographer in the Megalopolis courthouse.

The Narrator is voiced by Jonny Sims, creator and narrator of The Magnus Archives, author of Thirteen Storeys, and co-founder of MacGuffin & Co.!

Season one of SUPER SUITS will have 20 episodes, with a huge cast of guest characters in addition to the main cast above. The series draws on the writers' experiences and disillusionment with the real legal system, coupled with our love of comic book worlds. Cases cover everything from child labor laws for sidekicks, to property damage liability from superhero battles, to hearsay issues with a witness channeling the dead!

Faustian Nonsense takes pride in making our podcasts freely available, and our creators pour passion into every project. Super Suits is no exception!

It is also extremely ambitious. We have plans for a musical episode, for a multitude of voice actors, and for bizarre sound effects for superpowers and superweapons. We come to you here so we can realize these ambitious dreams while keeping the podcast free to the public!

And if we pass our funding goal, we're bursting with ideas for more we can do. Our current stretch goals:

  1. If we reach $20,000, we'll create a competitive version of the One Page RPG, so players can go up against each other as opposing counsel and clients!
  2. If we reach $25,000, we'll commission artists to create comic book cover art for every season one episode!
  3. And if we reach that point, we'll announce more stretch goals!

We want to thank our team at FN, and all the people who have supported us thus far, on all our podcasts! All those friends and family members we've begged to voice act for us, everyone who's helped us set up home recording studios, and everyone who's listened to our podcasts and told their friends about them.
