The Story
I’m Samuel May, a filmmaker based in Chicago. Me and my production company CBW Media are currently in production on a short film titled Deteriorate.
This project is a passion driven story about a couple trying to mend their fractured marriage over a remote weekend getaway at a lake house. However, things quickly begin to unravel as the line between perception and reality blurs..
We’re filming on location at a lake house with a small, dedicated cast and crew. Our goal is to create something that feels raw and emotional, with characters that audiences can connect with.
We’ve already put a lot into bringing this to life: from organizing the shoot to securing equipment and locations. Now we’re looking for a little extra support to help us finish strong.
We’re raising funds to cover essential costs like meals for cast and crew, travel, production needs, and post-production so we can properly edit, score, and complete the film.

About This Team
CBW Media has been working as a team since 2022: we started with writing practice scripts in college, then wrote, produced and filmed our own sketches to build the base of our filmmaking skillset. Later, we took it a step further, producing documentaries that put a spotlight on outcasted communities. It wasn’t until last year when we decided to make a business out of our passion for storytelling and video work. Since taking the jump into this line of work, we’ve helped produce music videos, event recaps, and even helped produce other local short films, as well playing a part in hosting a film festival in late 2025, where over 400 tickets were sold. During all that, Deteriorate was brewing in the background.
