The Story

The Importance of Making Mistakes

I think more than anything this film has taught me the importance of making mistakes. Especially in school, I was warned about the perils of making a slip up on a film set, like it would be the end of a career I barely began. After working as a Production Assistant, Editor, Director of Photography, Production Designer, and a variety of other positions for almost two years now I can confidently say I’ve made plenty of mistakes, and learned from every single one of them. I see this film as a culmination of the lessons I've learned and I am bringing together friends, all of which have played a huge role my in filmmaking journey and have their own lessons they carry with them. Putting together all of our experiences, we want to do the best we can to make something truly memorable both on and off the set.

Redrawing the characters

When planning this film I really wanted to take stock and highlight all the incredible creatives in my life. One of those creatives was an old high school friend, our Art Director, Austin Cho. Although Austin and I hadn’t worked together much until Sweet Pea & Glass we had talked about it collaborating many times. As soon as I made the decision to incorporate illustrations I knew exactly who I wanted to call. Fast forward to now and check out all the awesome designs he’s been working on in order to bring the chraracters of Sweet Pea & Glass to life.

Cinematography Style

This movie will be an awesome showcase for some amazing young artists and filmmakers in New York. And if you don’t believe me just check out some of the recent work our team has done under the "Media" tab above.

The hyper-stylized style and tone of this film are heavily inspired films like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Ready Player One, The Adventures of Tintin, Baby Driver, and Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.

Of course after working on so many projects together we have developed our own style and rhythm and look forward to exploring new ideas with this film. We have a very clear vision of what we want the film to look like and we have the experience to bring that vision to life.

Making Every Project Count

I’ve been fortunate enough to have many incredible mentors thoughout my filmmaking journey. Because of this, I always try my best to create opportunities for others and build a team that has a real bond. There's nothing I'd rather be doing than making films with my best friends. We even film on our birthdays!

COVID-19 Protocols

While COVID-19 continues to keep us apart I hope that film can keep us together. Making films always involves adapting to the circumstances you find youself in so we are fully prepared to observe all protocols to keep everyone safe at all times.

Thank You!

I think there's still a lot of value in bringing people a sense of escapism that a fun and hyper-stylized film like Sweet Pea & Glass can provide. We just want to make something that we think is cool and that people can enjoy.

I hope you'll join us and stay up to date with the making of our film. I can promise you that this will be something unique and memorable.
