WE MADE OUR FIRST STRETCH GOAL!
Wow, we met our first stretch goal of $20,000 in under a week! (Thanks so much to all of you who contributed!) But because of SAG-AFTRA (the actors' union) Covid precautions, we still need more to cover the following expenses: tests for our actors (and crew) every three days, personal protective equipment (PPE) for cast and crew, a field test administrator, and a COVID-19 Compliance Officer (CCO). And they're not cheap. Here's how it budgets out:
-
Cast testing: $9,000
-
PPE: $2,000
-
Field Administrator: $2,000
-
CCO: $2,000
-
TOTAL: $15,000
So our second stretch goal will be $35,000. We're a little over $20,000 now, so please let your friends, family, and any other movie lovers you know about us! We'd love to have them as part of our team.
We have some new rewards, too! For $500, you can be in the movie! And I have some new monotype paintings by my mom, available for $250. Check them out, and let the actors and art collectors in your life know about us. Thank you!

WE REACHED OUR GOAL!
Thank you all so much for the huge outpouring of support! It means the world. Our goal for this campaign was always the bare minimum to get this movie made, so we'd be so grateful if you could keep donating. We're setting a stretch goal of $20,000. If you can help us reach it, it will help us in a variety of ways:
-
$1500 for good food on set for our actors and crew
-
$4500 to hire a great sound engineer
-
$1500 to pay for a week of rehearsal time (I've been inspired by the process Mike Leigh does with his actors. This money would pay my amazing cast to work together for a week before we begin shooting.)
I've been lucky enough to show my past work at festivals like SXSW and Sundance and I'm hoping to premiere TAKE TWO at a similar festival next year. I'm especially excited to work with my friend Steve Zissis. Here we are together at the TOGETHERNESS premiere.

STORY
TAKE TWO is a comedy about love, heartbreak and the relationship between grieving and growing. The film centers around Terry, who decides to make a movie about his recent, failed relationship. His new girlfriend, Kate, will play his ex-girlfriend and his famous best-friend, Cole, will play Terry. The movie-within-a-movie set up of this film allows for a fraught, absurd, and screwball exploration of the hypocrisies, inconsistencies and projections that compose the landscape of memory.
MY PERSONAL CONNECTION
As Terry’s understandings of things are thrown into question, he is forced to confront and take responsibility for his past. In real life I didn't try to make a movie about my break up but I did go through my own personal journey (hell :) towards a greater understanding of myself. And I feel called to try and share these ideas with you, my audience. I hope this film will be entertaining, and that it will dramatize some of the things I have learned. Lessons of responsibility, setting boundaries, how to nurture love and most importantly how to share your pain with vulnerability and courage.

MY PAST WORK
In all my work I've tried to strike the perfect balance between humor and sincerity. Here's trailer from my film, RAINBOW TIME starring Timm Sharp, Melanie Lynskey and Tobin Bell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzHmZTN5uzo&t=1s Check it out on Netlfix!

MY JOURNEY FROM TEACHER BACK TO FILMMAKER
During the last few years, my role as a teacher has consumed me and I'm eager to get back to filmmaking, especially after covid. I have been developing a style of teaching screenwriting as the "Screenplay Doula". My desire to give to my students the encouragement I so longed for was a healing experience for me but now I'm eager to see how my teaching has refined my skills as a director. Also, I will be starting grad school in the fall (to study drama therapy) but it would break my heart if I entered this new phase of life without first telling this story.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE
Although this project originated from a very personal place, it explores a universal human trial: how to find love, keep it, and reckon with the things that got in the way last time. In the spirit of my cinematic heroes like John Cassavttes, Werner Herzog and mentors like Jay and Mark Duplass, I am making this film outside of the studio system and it wouldn’t be possible without the help from my community; you! Filmmaking is a collaborative effort and your support is as necessary an ingredient as the actors, cameras and crew. I hope that your support of my film will help you as well. I hope it will serve as a reminder for you foster your creativity or to just share your story in any way you can.

THANK YOU!
I have some rewards that I believe can help you become as an aspiring filmmaker or creative person. By following this campaign you will gain some insight into my process that is both enteraining, revealing and relatable to anyone who's taking on their own big creative project. And I hope you can make a donation and recieve your own personalized dance video by me. Please spread the word by directing people to this site, my instagram @Linasphillips or movie's instagram @taketwomovie. Thank you and keep dancing!
