The hope this film leaves us with is loud. Framed by the difficulty of grieving a vexed maternal relationship, we experience the incredible power of art, the journey to forgiveness, and an invitation to empathy that is profoundly life changing.

The Story
WE DID IT! YOU ALL DID IT! WE REACHED OUR GOAL!
so what happens now?
Thank you to everyone who has gotten us this far, in three weeks we made our goal and now? Now we get to STRETCH!!! We have 13 days left, there are many incentives to be given, and here's where we would put money surpassing our goal:
-funds to extend our option, should we need to at the end of our initial
-hiring for a detailed budget and schedule
-help our campaign for major investors
-attract artists to commission for Jean's sculptures
Over the moon thrilled about how far we've come, and excited for where else we can go! Let's go!
Lara, Sarah, Court

Jean, an aging woman living alone in a decaying rust-belt town, spends her final years welding large scale sculptures in her home while contemplating the complicated relationship she had with her now estranged stepdaughter Leah. When she dies unexpectedly, Elliott, a destitute young neighbor turned friend—reaches out to Leah in the hopes of forgiveness and redemption.

We fell in love with this story with the description of our protagonist, Jean, using flea market spoonheads as little capsules for buds of pinecones or bits of old photographs- whatever she pleased- to be used as textures up and around giant metal towers that she was welding in her living room.
To be in a world with someone who saw beauty in the discarded and unusual, who was creating because it was what she had to do, who was doing it with no idea what kind of tremendous impact it would have, or how lasting it would be, the raw honesty of taking things that were tainted and flipping them to give them a new life was more than just overwhelming.
It became the parable for the story, for our lives, and for this very project.

Take What You Need has a lyrical voice with disjointed characters who find their way to understanding, with notes of vivid colours in a decaying town, and a body of breathtaking art being created in the solitary Allegheny Mountains.

Recognizing beauty in the damaged and broken.
That forgiveness is possible, regardless of time or circumstance.
That there is hope for reconnection and understanding in a deeply polarized world.

We desperately need the hope this story offers. We need the conversations it prompts. We have the gall to create and we need your help to bring this story to life.

We are in the early stages of our option, the next 6 months are crucial for us to keep an already exciting momentum going! Not only is this campaign about further expanding our network of followers and supporters, it is also for the practical sides of development:
We would LOVE to surpass our goal! Surpassing our goal will let us continue our option, attract artists to be commissioned to start building Jean's sculptures, and help with our ability to campaign for production partners.

With a small cast of perfectly complicated characters, and a story that sparks ongoing conversation, we believe Take What You Need will be a festival darling, with broad appeal to those with insatiable curiosities, who love passionate discourse, and are ready (or not) to be shaken out of their black and white thinking.
We would love for you all to be a part of this from the beginning! We have incentives for all levels of giving that will give you a secret smile when you see the film. Whether you can give a little or a lot, please also share and follow us on IG @twyn.movie, where we will keep you in the loop about our progress as we go along.
We end with hope: when we are able to see things in a different light, whether person or object, when we create, we can bridge great divides and redefine human connection.

About This Team
Book Club Productions was formed over the love of a book. Everyone has a book they love. But the necessity we felt to make this book into a film was what brought the three of us together.
Lara has worked in film and theatre for over twenty years with an unbounded love, passion, and vision for the richness in storytelling through character. She is unapologetically dedicated to the craft of filmmaking.
Sarah's world revolves around books. When she is not engrossed in her job as a librarian, she’s reading and working on her own writing, always in pursuit of personal joy, creative moments, and pleasure.
Courtney is a producer, lover of Indie film, and eccentric cat mom, she’s worked in the industry for over ten years across a wide swath of mediums and genres. Bringing stories to life that foster genuine connection between people drives her passion for this work
Our love and passion for this project has fueled a strong early following: we have yet to introduce this project to someone who hasn’t felt the draw to the story, and the recognition of the importance of sharing it now.
Support has been both emotional and financial. Our intimate fundraisers have been successful, and have set the tone for connection-building, seed-sowing for further growth.
We are dedicated to keeping the conversation going and have this title in people’s mouths from now until it gets to the big screen.
