The Story
The Making of Tally
Tally began nearly two years ago with a creative connection between director Katelyn Lexant and lead actor Ozzie Jauregui. What started as conversations about story evolved into a committed collaboration, with Mikey Infante joining soon after and helping shape the project’s foundation.

Last year, we developed a different version of the film and even completed a funding round, but production ultimately couldn’t move forward.
Instead of walking away, Katelyn returned to the script and reimagined it into something bold, focused, and producible.
That rewrite became Tally.

We produced Tally on a $14,000 budget, funded largely out of pocket by the director and strengthened by a generous donor match. Thanks to an incredible group of volunteers and collaborators, that $14K often functioned like a $20K+ production. People stepped up beyond their roles, giving their time and talent because they believed in the story.
Our set blended experienced filmmakers with artists newer to the process, creating an environment that was efficient, supportive, and deeply collaborative.
We invested fully in production to ensure the film could exist at the highest level possible. Now we’re asking our community to help us finish strong in completing post-production and launching Tally into festivals where it can find its audience.
Check out the cool perks we've put together for joining us in post-production! See more about the story and the real-life making of below.

Synopsis:
After losing his passion for soccer, Luca, a once-promising athlete, drifts through the motions of his everyday life. He spends his days working behind a convenience store counter and his evenings at the same park wall where he used to have fun with friends, kicking a ball and marking each visit with a blue chalk tally.

Following an unexpected encounter with Danny, his former coach who now works with a youth team, Luca is offered the chance to return to the field in a new role. But his world is still heavy with pressure, disappointment, and the fear of being seen as a failure. His panic is silent but overwhelming, and he spirals after another long shift and a confrontation with his boss.
Yet, healing arrives through familiar faces: May and Eli, old friends who invite him into an impromptu late-night game at the wall. In their formal clothes, a little drunk, they tally scores and revisit their youth. For the first time in a long time, Luca lets go.

How Will We Use the Funds We Raise?
This campaign is dedicated entirely to post-production — the final and most crucial stage of bringing our film to life. Production may be complete, but the film isn’t finished until it’s shaped, polished, and prepared for audiences. Every dollar raised goes directly toward ensuring the film reaches its full potential. This is where you come in to help us across the final finish line, and we're so glad you're here!

26.09% – Edit
Editing is where the film truly comes together. Our editor shapes the performances, defines the pacing, builds emotional tension, and crafts the final story from hours of footage. This is the stage where the raw material becomes a cohesive, powerful film.
17.39% – Sound Design & Mix
Sound is half the cinematic experience. From dialogue clarity and ambient texture to score integration and final mix, professional sound design ensures the film feels immersive and theatrical.
17.39% – Color Correction & Grading
Color transforms footage into a unified visual world. Through professional color grading, we refine mood, tone, and consistency across every frame.
13.04% – Music + Score
Music and score give a film its emotional heartbeat. From original compositions to carefully chosen cues, this stage enhances mood, heightens tension, and deepens the audience’s connection to the story.
8.7% – DCP (Digital Cinema Package)
To screen in theaters and at festivals, we must convert the film into a professional Digital Cinema Package (DCP). This industry-standard format ensures our film can be projected properly in cinemas worldwide.
17.39% – Festival Submissions
Once complete, the film needs to be seen. Festival submission fees allow us to share the finished project with audiences, programmers, and industry professionals. These funds directly support our distribution strategy and give the film its best chance to travel and find its audience.
While we’re no longer raising funds for production, post-production is what determines the film’s final quality and reach. Your support helps us cross the finish line — and share this story the way it was meant to be seen and heard.
Why Us?
Because we’ve already done the hardest part.
We developed, adapted, and ultimately produced Tally on a lean budget without compromising our vision.
We built a cast and crew in six weeks.
We created a set that was efficient, collaborative, and inclusive. And we finished production.
Now, we’re not asking you to fund an idea.
We’re asking you to help finish a film that already exists.
With your support, we can complete post-production at a professional level and give Tally the festival run it deserves.
Thank you for being part of the final chapter of this journey.
