The Story

Tapestry is a raw, emotional drama about three friends struggling to navigate grief, loss, and the unspoken bonds that tie them together.

At its core, Tapestry is a story of friendship and healing. Caleb, Alex, and Lo have been friends for years, and though their lives have taken different paths, they remain connected by the quiet weight of their shared history. When tragedy strikes, they find themselves confronting emotions they’ve long buried, with no choice but to face the pain they’ve been avoiding.

Alex
Introspective and fiercely passionate, Alex is the heart of the group. As a sound mixer, he finds freedom in controlling the sonic world—amplifying, muting, and shaping sound the way he wishes he could with his own feelings. His dedication to his art inspires those around him, and his journey is about channeling grief and inner turbulence into creativity, while letting the people he loves see the real him.
Caleb
Charismatic, playful, openly gay, and larger-than-life, Caleb hides his vulnerability behind humor and bravado. He thrives on connection but fears rejection, using performance as a shield. Part of Caleb’s story is learning to let his guard down, embracing authenticity, and trusting the people who already see him for who he really is.
Lo
Sentimental, perceptive, and fiercely loyal, Lo is the glue of the group, keeping Alex and Caleb grounded when emotions run high. Music and memory anchor her, helping her understand herself and her friends. She mediates, nurtures, and sometimes bears the emotional weight of the group—but her challenge is balancing care for others with her own need for connection and growth.

Together, they navigate the messy terrain of friendship, grief, and the complicated emotions that define growing up. They find solace in each other, even as they pull away, unwilling to face their own pain. It’s through their connection that they each begin to heal: slowly, awkwardly, but with undeniable love.

Tapestry will feel raw, intimate, and deeply reflective, with moments of humor that reveal the real mess of being human. The tone shifts between lighthearted camaraderie and quiet, poignant introspection. We want the film to capture the quiet, complex moments of life, when you laugh through your tears or struggle to say the thing you’re afraid to admit.

Our influences include films like Blue Jay - a beautiful, understated film that captures the way old friends can seamlessly shift between nostalgia and pain, and Before Sunrise, which balances naturalistic dialogue with deep emotional resonance. The tone of Tapestry is one of raw honesty and intimacy, a delicate dance between the humor that bonds us and the grief that shapes us.

Making this film isn’t just about telling a story, but about sharing an experience. Tapestry is a deeply personal project for us, and we want to bring you along for every step of the journey. From production to post-production, every stage of this film will be a reflection of the intimate, behind-the-scenes process that happens when you bring a story like this to life.
We’ve chosen Seed & Spark because it offers a platform where our backers are both contributors AND collaborators. You’ll be with us every step of the way, getting updates, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, and special thanks that show how much we appreciate your support.

Tapestry is a project with real momentum, and your support will help us hit the ground running. Here’s how the next few months look:
- September: Production kicks off in Los Angeles. We’ll be shooting all the LA-based scenes, capturing the energy, emotion, and intimacy of our characters in their home turf.
- October: The crew heads to New York to shoot the remaining scenes, completing the story’s arc and bringing the characters’ journeys to life in a new environment.
- Post-Production: As soon as shooting wraps, editing and sound design will begin. Our goal is to have post underway before the end of the year.
With this schedule, we’re aiming for a spring completion, ensuring the story reaches audiences quickly while the energy from production is still fresh. This is a propulsive, fast-moving project: backers will see the direct impact of their support as the film comes together in real time.

About This Team
Stephen Marsiano – Writer/Director/Producer
Stephen’s obsession with story started in New Jersey and took him all the way to UCLA, shaped by The Davids (Fincher, Lynch, and Cronenberg). He directs with heart, humor, and an eye for detail that makes characters feel alive. Music videos, short films, commercials one and all. For Tapestry, he’s turning that experience into an intimate, propulsive feature with mumblecore roots.
Nic Murphy – Producer
Nic has done it all: experimental shorts, feature docs, live musicals, and podcasts. He’s organized chaos into award-worthy art (RICKY at Sundance 2023, BAD LIKE). Nic keeps production humming, making sure creativity never outpaces execution.
Trey Betts – Director of Photography
Trey’s global upbringing gives him a lens that’s wide, empathetic, and adaptable. From rural horror (DON’T LET THEM OUT, 2025) to commercials and documentaries, he crafts visuals that make every frame feel alive. On Tapestry, he’s translating emotion into cinematic texture.
Why We Work
This isn’t our first rodeo: Stephen, Nic, and Trey have already made two short films and three music videos together, and we’ve got our next feature lined up. We move fast, make bold choices, and know how to get a story from script to screen. Backing Tapestry means joining a team with momentum, trust, and a shared vision.
