Story
Mission Statement
The person behind the camera has tremendous influence in shaping the narrative, and their perspective comes through to the audience. The majority of crew members we are hiring are women, many in key positions, including our director. Because this story deserves to be told by women.About The Project
From the Creator
Every story starts with a spark. 1,338 days into my recovery from a traumatic brain injury, I found that spark. In the 40 days that followed, I wrote a story that is both a testament to everything I’ve overcome, and a reflection of my own survival mirrored in one woman’s journey to rediscover her identity after trauma.
- Lindsay Sparks, Traumatic Brain Injury Survivor & Creator of THE GREAT DIVIDE
Story
In 1879 on the Colorado frontier, Tilly McCray stands unarmed on the porch of her farmhouse in a standoff with a menacing band of outlaws who have just murdered her father. She's destitute - penniless, and alone, and with no other options, she seeks restitution by conspiring with these dangerous outlaw men, known as the Misfits of Jefferson County.
Along the trail, Tilly questions her identity as a woman, and forms an unorthodox bond with the Misfits, all the while eluding Sheriff Eugene Hensley’s grotesque and relentless pursuit of his version of justice. They finally take down Hensley, but an ambush during their final attempt to reclaim their money leaves one of the men dead. In the wake of another tradgedy will the Misfits embrace their newest companion and choose to survive together, or is the divide among them too great?

Mission
This story deserves to be told by women. The majority of above and below the line team members will be highly experienced female filmmakers.
When a film is made, the person behind the camera has tremendous influence in shaping the narrative, and a unique, specific perspective comes through to the audience.
This project fosters the careers of women and present a woman’s perspective in a male-dominated industry and genre. It is equally important to examine history from the female perspective. It’s not as if one day women woke up wanting the equality we want today. It has been a long road, and the historical perspective still holds up today.

Current Team
About This Team
We are a mutitalented group of folks from Denver, Los Angeles, and New Mexico who share a love of independent and provacative filmmaking. We've come together to make magic.
Lindsay Sparks
Writer/ Executive Producer/ "Tilly McCray"
An alum of the Upright Citizens Brigade, she brings a musicality to all her dramatic and comedic work. She is known for her vulnerable, quirky spirit, which adds a trace of brightness to even the darkest of roles.
Before she was in the film industry, Lindsay was part owner of a tech startup where she designed apps for iPhones and Androids. She frequented the Apple campus and once came within three feet of Steve Jobs.
In 2014, Lindsay suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) which set her on a different course. After nearly two years into her recovery she rediscovered her passion for acting and soon found herself on the big screen. She was, however, impatient and dissatisfied with the roles available for women, and began writing and producing work for herself. She founded Sparkles Entertainment to craft compelling stories, each from a strong female perspective, and foster equity by cultivating world class female filmmakers. We love Lindsay!
Rebekah Wiggins
Director
As a passionate actor/producer/storyteller Rebekah is drawn to female centric stories that bring to light diversity in filmmaking. She enjoys showcasing various ethnic, religious, and sexual preferences in her work. Directing film was a natural transition for Rebekah due to her work as an actor and producer.
Wiggins has been working with actors on a weekly basis for the past three years. It is through teaching the Chubbuck Acting Technique that she discovered her passion and gift for directing. Whether it’s through her acting work, teaching, or the films she’s produced her focus is always connecting people and communicating the human condition. She recognizes that the films we watch can change the way we think about ourselves and the world around us. Through film she has truly found her creative voice.
In 2017 Rebekah made her directorial debut with a short film titled Today. It is a short about a daughter who learns the meaning of unconditional love when her own mother asks her to end her life. The film explores unconditional love and the complexity of grief. Today was an official selection for 2017 LA Femme International Film Festival and the 2017 Albuquerque Film and Media Experience. During 2017 AFME Rebekah was awarded "Runner Up for Best Actress." We love Rebekah!
Corey Weintraub
Director of Photographer
Corey weintraub is a director of photography based out of the desert Southwest. His relationship with the region has deeply influenced the style and outlook of his work. From the time he was a young painter he was inspired by the art work of Fredrick Remington and CM Russell. As a cinematographer, he fell in love with the noir tones of post war America. In his work, he has always sought to capture the grandness of the west blended with the bleak darkness of a noir city world.
Corey has nearly 20 years and 100 films under his belt. He rose up through the ranks as a camera assistant in major motion pictures and is a member of IATSE local 600.
Today, as a director of photography, he always looks for new and challenging projects to which he can bring his long hewn aesthetic. Recent projects of interest include the noir young adult show, Tagged, the feature film Will Gardner , starring Max Martini, Omari Hardwick, Gary Sinise and Lily Rabe and the feature film Chance, starring Matthew Modine. We love Corey!
Jeff Rood
Producer
Jeff is an experienced producer having worked on live shows, short films, and features. Early in 2018 he approached Lindsay about co-producing sketch comedy for new media and she was game. By profound coincidence, the script for THE GREAT DIVIDE had just been finished and Lindsay was looking for folks that would be as invested in getting the story out there as she was. Jeff read the script, and he was that guy.
He believes every project is an opportunity to bring together a group of diverse people to elevate their careers and foster equity.
Jeff and Lindsay have worked tirelessly throughout 2018 moving forward with THE GREAT DIVIDE- budgeting, scheduling, producing the proof of concept, and somehow they've found additional time to produce together countless sketches, as well as a short film, all in 2018. We love Jeff!
Tasos Hernandez
"John Delgado"
Tasos Hernandez is an American TV and Film and Voice actor who has appeared on a variety of national television shows. He is best known for his appearances in hit TV shows such as AMC's "Better Call Saul," NBC's "The Night Shift,""Midnight Texas," and ABC's "The Bachelorette." As a fan favorite on "The Bachelorette," he was requested to return on ABC's new show "Bachelor In Paradise" in 2014.
In addition to working on a numbers of television shows and commercials he has also worked on a number of movies such as "Villa Capri" starring Morgan Freeman, Tommy Lee Jones & Rene Russo and "Fast Color" directed by Julia Hart due out in 2018.
Tasos is an ethnically diverse actor that is a successful example of the new multi state market approach to acting taught by talent developer Brian McCulley at AEC Studios, Patrick Sheridan from Film Acting Academy, and Krista Gano with the Working Artist Group.
He has a background in music performance, DJ'ing and Hosting events and continues to work in multiple markets and states in the US. We love Tasos!
Amber Ashley
"Emaline Bishop"
Amber Lynn Ashley was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. Her elementary years (1st-5th grade), Amber went to a private school called The Denver Waldorf School were her class performed a play every year. This is where she found her love for acting. Her mother battling with MS and her father suffering from an Aneurism and disabling him, Amber had to transferred school and started attending a charter school, The Odyssey, for middle school. There she learned how to rock climb, snowboard, canoe, hike, raft, camp and so much more. At her local recreational center, Amber learned ballet, karate (where she earned her black belt), swimming, and horseback riding. She also attended and acting program called Kid Skits.
In High School she was part of the founding class at The Denver School of Science and Technology located in the Stapleton area. There, she put acting on hold to focus on her studies. During high school, Amber was on the year book comity, varsity soccer and basketball team, and interned at the Denver Zoo. After graduating high school, Amber traveled Europe, going to Monaco, France, Spain, and Italy. Then she went off and studied theatre and photography at The Metropolitan State University of Denver where she got her BA. Some of her performances at MSUD are "Hair the Musical," "The Heidi Chronicles", "Sentences and Words", and "Two Truths and A Lie". During college she studied abroad twice- first in London where she studied acting and then in Paris where she studied photography and french. She trains at the Front Range Acting Studio in Denver with a focus on Television and Film acting. We love Amber!
Bruce Carter
Associate Producer/ "Mr.McCray"
Not long ago, with encouragement from Stephen Austin in his Colorado Springs film and television auditions workshop---The Actors Voice, in partnership with Paul Neal Rohrer---Bruce relinquished self-brewed uncertainties and insecure misconceptions and decided he would stick a toe in a film acting workshop coming with Rebecca Wiggins to Denver from her Southwest Sceneworks Studio, characterized as a "weekend intensive" introduction to Ivana Chubbuck's 12-step acting technique. That first Saturday in Denver simply initiated an architected process of 'intensives' comprising what has been metaphorically likened by Back Stage West to "...a five-star feast after a month of fast food... immensely satisfying," And somewhere in Bruce's journey and metamorphosis with the Chubbuck Technique catalyst, Bekah and Lindsay have cast Bruce as Tilly's father---'Mr. McCray'. We love Bruce!
Longlost Pictures
Editor
Longlost pictures is an indie post production duo comprised of the fabulous Lex Benedict and Greg Cruser. We love Lex and Greg!
Sterling Cook
Campaign Director
Sterling Cook is a Denver-based filmmaker. After studying cinema in San Francisco, and working on creative and corporate media in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, Sterling returned to Colorado, where his passion for filmmaking was ignited by his grandfather, playwright Robert L. Cook, who screened classic films for him during visits. He strives to strengthen the narrative film community in Denver.
A producer and a director, notable work includes MOLLY SAYS YES, based on Joyce's "Ulysses" and selected as an installment in Lars Von Trier's GESAMPT, Sheryl Glubook's LILY 'N' ROSE, the WINESBURG SERIES for James Franco TV, and Lee Amir-Cohen's THE OTHER PLACE. We love Sterling!
