Mission Statement

With this film, we want to send a message about never giving up despite any personal struggles or battles with mental health. It is about believing in yourself to succeed. We want to give audiences hope that anything you set your mind to can be done.

The Story

The Big Night is a fast-paced comedy-drama that follows Stan, a man who sort of keeps to himself due to his personal struggles and OCD. He does not go out much. However, there is someone at work that he just can't help but be interested in. Her name is Mia. Mia is a kind soul, and one of the only people in the office who notices Stan.

Stan tries to talk to her sometimes but struggles to find it in himself to do so. However, one day, due to constant teasing by his coworker, Alex, (and because Stan really likes Mia), he asks Mia on a date.

She says yes.

See, normally, you would think hero gets the girl, and the story is over. BUT NOT IN THIS ONE!

Getting Mia to accept the date was not the hardest part of Stan's day. The hardest part is when he actually leaves his home to go on said date. As Stan embarks on the journey to his date, he is just trying his best to push against the world's force. Stan is met with a series of misfortunate events where he must fight for his life just to get to his date on time.

Each event and interaction Stan has, his will is tested and he learns a bit more about himself and how he can overcome his fears.

Will Stan make it to his date? Will he make it without going insane?

We'll just have to wait and see!

Although this film is going to be a fun, fast-paced, comedy with some action too, when I began writing the earlier versions of this story almost 5 years ago now, it started with ideas that are still the core of this film. Those ideas and themes are ones such as overcoming your fears, pushing against odds, believing in yourself, and never giving up despite any personal struggle.

In some ways, I am telling an underdog story. Stan is someone who thinks he can't amount to a lot due to his personal struggles with his mental health. However, he decides to take a chance one day. That is the important core of the story. Taking a chance when no one believes in you. We hope that while you are having fun watching the film, you are also able to get a sense of hope and promise to not give up. The themes in this film are very personal to me. To this day, I have to always prove to myself that anything is possible despite any personal struggle or battle with mental health. I want to tell a story that shows that idea.

Our goal is to be able to raise around $3,000. This sounds like a big number and while it can be, we are really pulling a lot of favors to be able to make it for that amount. Filming in Los Angeles is very expensive so we would appreciate any help with this. Below are some of the things behind the costs!

Locations / Permits / Insurance: This is a big chunk of our budget. We can't execute the idea of Stan having a big night if we aren't able to lock down locations. Like I said, filming in Los Angeles is expensive and we need to pay location managers and get film permits to be able to film anywhere.

Camera and Lighting Gear: To be able to secure the lenses and gear needed to be able to show visually how Stan is feeling.

Production Design & Costumes: To be able to secure all the props and outfits for the characters and worlds. We want to be able to give our teams enough in order to help make this world feel very real.

Meals & Crafty: Feeding our hard-working cast and crew who are putting in many hours to help us make this film

Postproduction & Film Festivals: To be able to finish up the sound design, coloring, and mix of the film, and then send it off to film festivals.

Our stretch goal is $5,000. With this goal, we would be able to secure all the locations we want to be able to make the film to its truest potential. We would also be able to attribute more to our production design and camera teams. With this film, we are following Stan on a wild night, so we really want to be able to get the locations and afford the production design to really make each location fulfilling to the story.
