Mission Statement
The Story
The Clown Affair is in post-production and we need the funds to finish this vulnerable and important piece of art.
WHY THIS STORY?
The Clown Affair began a few years ago with a couple of monologues scratched on a notepad and by January 2022, it was brought to life with the aid of our talented cast and crew.
Our ideas are informed by our experiences as artists and the many obstacles faced in finding and cultivating a creative voice in a world of critics, crisis and creative blocks. Confronting obstacles is more than just what this story is about, it’s quite literally what this production has been about. The film uses powerful symbolism and metaphor to explore the ideas of these themes but the film’s production was a living and breathing excercise of those themes in action. We hope this film inspires others in the same way we were inspired by making it.
What is the money going towards?
This whole process has been a learning experience and we look forward to the feedback we get when our film premiers at festivals around the world so that we can gain the knowledge to become even better storytellers.
If we meet our fundraising goal, the film will be available to stream online after we have completed the 2022/23 festival circuit. It will be available to donors by July 2022. If our project surpasses 100 percent of our fundraising goal, we will be donating our surplus to fund local artists with disabilities.
Our production was impacted by Covid-19 because filming took place during the omicron spike, and while we wanted more crew members for this massive project, we had to keep our crew as small as possible. Most of us wore many hats throughout this production and really put blood, sweat, and tears into creating this. Because of that, we feel extra passionate about raising this money to get our art out there. We would love to see it get the launch it deserves.

How the story ends will change you forever.
