The Story
Thank you for checking out our project! Let us tell you about our indie horror short film. Pledges are in $US Dollars.

"To get rid of his paralyzing night terrors, Reed calls The Company for help, only to invite something even worse in."
“THE COMPANY MAN is a short horror film about the bad things we sometimes invite into our lives when we are at our lowest. A desperate man named REED (Scott Mun) answers a mysterious advertisement promising relief from the nightmares ruining his life, only to invite something far more dangerous into his home. When a stranger known only as THE COMPANY MAN (Evan Evagora) arrives at his door, Reed is forced into a night of escalating terror that blurs the line between dream and waking life. As the haunting presence tightens its grip, Reed must confront the truth he has been denying—before his fear consumes him completely.”
THE VISUAL STYLE AND TONE OF THE FILM

DIRECTOR/PRODUCER – Jonathan Hyon
Jonathan Hyon is a filmmaker and visual artist based in Los Angeles. He was on the producing team for HBOMax’s, “Legendary,” a competition show about the ballroom/voguing scene. His production experience spans from scripted, digital, and commercial work among brands like Disney+, Fremantle, Corona, TikTok, and Facebook. His personal filmmaking often centers queer stories through the lens of horror, camp, and dramedy. His shorts have been in festivals around the US and screened at the Kennedy Center and chosen as a top 10 finalist for the “Netflix x Dear White People Film Competition.”
THE TEASER
Jonathan Hyon and DP Daniel Cho filmed with the team bring a visual teaser to life, to show you the style and ideas we want to bring to the screen. The teaser is at the start of our video pitch.

REED - Reed is disciplined, hardworking, and very conscious of his image. On the surface he appears confident and in control, but lately he’s been struggling beneath the exterior — battling bouts of negativity, sudden panic attacks, and unsettling nightmares that he can’t explain or ignore. His carefully curated exterior is beginning to crack, revealing a man desperate to understand what’s happening to him before it spirals further.
THE COMPANY MAN - With his perfectly slicked hair and blank expression, The Company Man’s calm, cold presence feels more like the idea of a human. His objective unknown; he simply arrives — and things begin to go wrong.
THE INSTRUCTOR - An influencer to some, a spiritual guide to others. She provides Reed with sage advice on how to perform being a better person via YouTube videos.
Fear feels more universal than ever. We live in a world where we are constantly told to stay informed, productive, healthy, connected — and in control. Beneath it all is the anxiety that we might never be doing enough.
THE COMPANY MAN taps into that fear.
Our filmmaking collective has always been drawn to stories that explore the darker side of the human experience. We are a team of filmmakers, writers, and horror fans who have worked together across multiple projects.
Evan Evagora, Scott Mun, and Damian Overton most recently collaborated on the sci-fi short ANOMALY. Scott and Damian co-wrote the supernatural horror feature THE WANDERING LIGHT, while Evan and Damian have co-written a zombie horror feature set in Australia. Both features are currently being pitched.
Now, alongside director Jonathan Hyon and producer Aidan Toms, we’re bringing THE COMPANY MAN to life. The film explores wellness culture, productivity, corporate identity, and our obsession with self-improvement — all through the genre we love: horror.
We believe independent horror is more important than ever. It gives filmmakers the freedom to take risks, tell original stories, and turn the anxieties of our everyday lives into something visceral, unsettling, and fun. THE COMPANY MAN is our next story.
And we’re ready to make it.
