The Story
Being a parent is absurdly difficult. You are tired. Like really tired.
Parents are constantly swarmed with conflicting information for how to parent "the right way." And we are all so desperately tired that we will try anything. Literally anything.
(This sleep suit only worked for this picture.)
Our film demonstrates both the difficulty and the absurdity in equal weight. As parents, we want to show you the highs and the lows and the hilarious/heartbreaking path that comes from even the simplest tasks of being a young parent. And how even doing the right thing can carry emotional scars. That’s why it's important to laugh along the way.
The Ferberizing of Coral started as a very successful 10-minute play. It debuted at the Washington, D.C. Source Festival in 2016, was immediately revived at the Source’s “Best of 10-minute Plays” in 2017, and was one of the winners at the Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Festival in 2018.
The film is comedy and also every parent's worst nightmare. We are excited to push the visual boundary of genre by introducing elements of horror into the film.

About This Team
Our team is led by writer/director/producer Patrick Flynn.
Patrick is a Helen Hayes Award-nominated playwright & award-winning filmmaker based in Washington, D.C. Produced stage works include The Ferberizing of Coral (winner, Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival), Tinker Bell (licensed by Dramatic Publishing), The Velveteen Rabbit (licensed by Theatrical Rights Worldwide), Giant Box of Pr0n (licensed by Next Stage Press), Sheila and Moby (Helen Hayes Recommended), Where in North Dakota is Carmen Sandiego? (Awesome Con 2018). His podcast The Original Cast was named one of the “7 Standout Theatre Podcasts” by Playbill. Web series: I Live With This (Outstanding Series & Outstanding Writing, L.A. Webfest), Long Distance Relationship (Bronze Medal, TIVA-DC Peer Awards), Keith Powell Directs a Play (starring Keith Powell and Aubrey Plaza). His films made for the 48 Hour Film Project have won over 30 awards including 9 best-of-city citations, 3 for writing, 3 for directing, and 2 Best Films. His book Visual Literacy: A Practical Text on the Analysis, History, and Creation of Visual Media is available from Kendall-Hunt. He is a professor at American University & Catholic University and a member of the Dramatists Guild.
Maureen Monterubio is lead producing.
Maureen is a filmmaker, theatre artist and audiobook director based in New York City. She has spent over fifteen years of her career collaborating with playwrights, screenwriters, producers, podcasters, and novelists. Her film Emma On The Roof was a semi-finalist at jellyFEST Film Festival in Los Angeles. She produced two comedy late night two pilots for BRICTV, multiple sketches for Gold Comedy's inaugural news team, several short films. Maureen directed the sold out run of Patrick Flynn's Giant Box of Pr0n at Capital Fringe. She won the top audiobook award for Mad Honey narrated by Carrie Coon. She has directed Oscar Award winning actress Marisa Tomei reading Elena Ferrante's acclaimed novel The Lying Life of Adults. Maureen developed and directed Kate Robard's solo show Polyshamory which ended its tour of the US and Canada with a run at The Marsh in San Francisco. She is currently developing a pilot, Fiddle Folk based on her summers as a character actress in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.

Digital Storyteller David Wardrick is a life long resident of the DMV, (DC - Maryland - Virginia) with a focus on visual media. A childhood on stage & screen ushered in a technical career in the audio, video and technical arts. Videography awards and commendations received from NASA, The 48 Hour Film Project and more.
Mitzi Akaha stars as Caitlin.
Based in New York, Mitzi contributes her particular talents and peculiar humor to a variety of projects. The elevated zombie love story Herd, in which she stars alongside Ellen Adair and an enviable ensemble (Jeremy Holm, Dana Snyder, Tim V Murphy, Corbin Bernsen, Amanda Fuller), was named one of the best genre films of the year by Yahoo Movies and Fangoria, while the J-Horror epic Bashira directed by Nickson Fong (Godzilla, The Patriot, The Matrix franchise), in which she stars among Liam Aiken and Kiki Sukezane, is collecting awards on the international festival circuit. You can see her in Slamdance 2024's Grand Jury Breakout Feature Chaperone as a 29-year-old failing to adult, or in award-winning shorts (like The Looming Cloud, as a sibling bickering about how to post about Mom's death on social media, which premiered at Sundance 2024 to rave reviews, or 86'd, a Koch-era late-nite deli story written and directed by Alan Palomo of Neon Indian and shot on film by Safdie Brothers' go-to Sean Price Williams, which premiered at Maryland Film Festival and stars Mitzi alongside comedian Seaton Smith and Buddy Duress (of Good Time)), on TV (e.g., as Naomi Scott's undie-entrepreneur bff in Japan's Modern Love or Mamoudou Athie's cheating ex-gf in Archive 81), or in one of dozens of commercials for snack foods, iPads and birth control. Federico lives in Brooklyn with his newly growing family, a toddler and infant (sleep trained!). Federico has an upcoming supporting role in The Life List (Netflix, 2025) starring Sofia Carson and Connie Britton. He recurred on American Rust with Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney, and has supporting roles in A24’s Past Lives and the romantic comedy Which Brings Me To You. His previous TV appearances include The Path, BULL, Blue Bloods, and Madam Secretary. Selected stage work includes Hamlet (with Michael Urie) at Shakespeare Theatre, Bonnie’s Last Flight (NYTW), and The Importance of Being Earnest (Two River Theatre). Federico holds a BA from Brown University, in Computer Science.
