Mission Statement

Our short centers around Latino voices both in front of and behind the camera. Latino creators remain deeply underrepresented in film, especially in horror. By supporting this campaign, you’re helping redefine who gets to tell stories, who gets to be the hero, and who gets to haunt the screen.

The Story

I have always loooooooooved horror even at a young age. My grandparents from Mexico would tell me legends and I became obsessed with all things fantasy and horror. These are the movies I love to watch and the stories I want to tell as a filmmaker. Horror are the only films that allow us to experience intense fear in a safe and controlled environment. That’s what I want the audience to feel like with all of my films. I’ve written horror films for the studios but have yet to direct my first feature and I’m really hoping this short can help change that. There needs to be more women behind the camera especially in genre.

“This Story Speaks to Real Fears”

Your support will be helping bring a new kind of original horror to life that is a genre mash-up we haven’t seen before.  The story follows two sisters (Mishel Prada, Isabella Gomez) who move into an abandoned house to flip as part of their online show, "Sisters in Their Flip Era." The sisters’ unhealed trauma over the death of their parents bubbles to the surface as they argue about finances. Tensions are high as they’ve used the last of their parent’s money to renovate the house. This flip has to work, or they will have lost everything. One evening, masked intruders (Jessica M. Garcia, Lucas Adams) break in searching for something sinister that’s been hidden in the house. Something that can’t get into the world. Will the sisters stand their ground and protect their investment, or will they escape before the entity gets unleashed?

The heart of the story is the emotional relationship between the sisters. The core theme of the film is a claustrophobic entrapment, both physically within a house and symbolically for characters that need to confront their own trauma. The horror becomes a pressure cooker for their relationship. This short taps into our fears of unsafe spaces, illusion of control, and the horrific realization of something already being “inside.” It also explores themes of grief, survival, and how far you’re willing to go to protect your family bond.

Latino creators remain deeply underrepresented in the film industry, especially within genre spaces like horror. Latinos are 20% of the population and are 1 in 4 moviegoers. We show up even more for horror films. We love our spooky stories! Yet, we’re hardly visible in the industry, accounting for only 2% of theatrical directors, less than 1% of writers, and 5% of actors. This project is not just a film—it’s a statement. The short moves beyond stereotypes into complex, layered characters we hardly get to see. We urgently need to create change in the industry and now is the time. Our stories deserve to be seen, heard, and feared.

THE HIDDEN is grounded. Claustrophobic. Unrelenting.

It blends the realism of a home invasion film like The Strangers with the creeping supernatural dread of something unseen like Evil Dead. I’m inspired by genre filmmakers like Fede Álvarez and Mike Flanagan who have the incredible ability to make you genuinely care for the characters and fear for their safety with tense buildups and unique scares.

I want to build the tension slowly, using silence, space, and shadow to create fear—until it erupts. The camera lingers. Silence stretches. The goal is to create a sustained feeling of vulnerability, where the audience is constantly scanning the frame, unsure where the danger is coming from. Visually, the film leans into natural light, darkness, and grounded realism. The below images are from films that tonally inspire me.

The house itself becomes a character—tight hallways, hollow walls, and unseen corners creating a constant sense of unease. The horror is rooted in two layers: the immediate, physical threat of a home invasion and the deeper, psychological dread of something sinister already inside.

Indie films don’t exist without grassroots backing. Every dollar goes directly into making the film including paying our talented cast and crew fairly, locations, equipment, production design, costume design as well as very unique mask designs for the intruders and fun special effects blood gags. Yes, there will be blood!! Every dollar gets us one step closer to being able to tell this unique genre-bending story. This short will be about 15 minutes long and will be submitted to festivals. Your support will not only allow us to make a contained short film, we will be able to showcase the short as a proof of concept to investors for a feature film. We’re turning to the people who love horror to help support us. You're investing in so much more than a short. You're investing in change. A movement.
