What happens to those fascinating New York subway characters after they leave the train? This new anthology series seeks to answer that question through imaginative circumstances that are at times funny, romantic, tragic, frightening, or just defy your perception of reality and its limitations.

Mission Statement

Our series will be as diverse and inclusive as the city it calls home. The anthology-style format gives us the chance to tell stories from many varying perspectives week to week. We hope to foster human connection by asking our audience to wonder about 'the other' and be curious instead of critical.

The Story

The Last Stop explores the fantastic elements in the private lives of the weird and wonderful subjects we encounter while riding the New York City subway. Every passenger has a story, but we rarely ask or interact so we remain just familiar strangers. This series seeks to answer the questions we ask ourselves about those we see: "Where do they go after they leave the train?" "What happens next and why?" To put it more bluntly, "WTF?!" Shot in beautiful black and white through the skewed lenses of satire and surrealism, our series will address a broad range of contemporary social issues by holding a flame up to the darker or more absurd aspects of our collective humanity. The world of the subway is a magical and kinetic one which visitors are fascinated by and city-dwellers know all too well. In short, the expression “Only in New York” will strongly be pushed to its limit!

Inspired by the ground-breaking television work of Rod Serling, David Lynch, and Charlie Brooker we hope to fire the imaginations of our audience and challenge their preconceived notions of what is possible and impossible.

We're launching The Last Stop with our pilot episode, “American Morning”. In this episode, our nineteen-year-old protagonist, Connor Mathis, a card-carrying member of the American Gun Association and firearm-aficionado, is emotionally and psychologically damaged after surviving a mass shooting at his former elementary school while visiting his first-grade teacher. As he tries to come to terms with his experience and reconcile why he survived, he becomes disillusioned by the inaction of politicians to ensure it never happens again and decides to take matters into his own hands.

We foresee “American Morning” and our entire series starting important conversations about the issues addressed and hope that it will foster introspection and action from our audience. In this time of disconnect, we want to reinvigorate curiosity in ourselves and in each other. We want our audience to wonder about how we can effectively engage with one another, how we can expand our own consciousness, and how to be interested in others instead of fearful.

"American Morning" will serve as our flagship and proof of concept for The Last Stop and open the door for us produce the entire first season of the series. In addition to Connor's tale, our first season also includes stories dealing with age, body image, homelessness, technology, sexuality, and mental health. We're also so excited by the unique possibilities and perspectives the self-contained anthology-style format brings us. Each episode can be enjoyed on its own and the season does not necessarily have to be watched in chronological order.

By supporting our campaign to produce "American Morning", you are joining us in reaching the first stop of The Last Stop and giving us the ability to bring this entire series to fruition. Thank you for your time, your support, and for being a crucial part of this wild wild ride!

Sincerely,

Stephen, Sarah, Andrew, Alon, and Avram.
