The Story

Short Synopsis:
Middle-aged moms Lisa and Sharon find their marriages in ruins. Instead of accepting abuse, they say yes to “fun” as they are pursued by younger men. 50 and fabulous Clarissa faces her own perfectionism and chronic single-hood, amidst her friends and clients spicing up the suburbs.
Full Synopsis:
Women of a certain age often get the short end of the stick in the workplace and at home. Yet they are somehow expected to put up with bad behavior, or to stick it out for the sake of the kids. Newly single mom, Lisa, is hiding out in a vacant townhome thanks to her successful realtor friend, Clarissa. As Clarissa helps out Lisa, she also confronts bestie Sharon about her husband Jay’s philandering belligerence. Sharon avoids confrontation, and her marital problems, by entertaining a flirtation with Ethan (hot, young handyman) working at the HOA pool. Suburban life gets even spicier when Jay, Sharon’s struggling husband, records a salacious video of Lisa’s ass as he helps her with a DIY project. They are interrupted by Gen Z influencer Chad, a potential townhome buyer. Lisa fears she and her kids will be out on the street, as this was her soft place to land, because Clarissa is all business when it comes to a sale. Chad sees an opportunity and posts the salacious video to his own TikTok channel. An unlikely friendship is forged when Chad offers Lisa a deal on rent to stay in his basement, including a room for her kids. Shit spirals out of the fan when Lisa’s and Sharon’s kids discover the viral video. Lisa is mortified, Jay lands in rehab, and Sharon continues to pursue Ethan on the down-low. Chronically single, perfectionistic Clarissa is not into "cougaring," while she waits for “Mr. Everything I’ve Ever Dreamed Of.” She is particularly hot and bothered that her own clients are hooking up with her besties. Gender double standards are pushed to their limits in this mature comedy that’s a little bit “Sex in the City” (Suburbs) meets “Desperate Housewives” (without murders) sprinkled with some “Sex, Lies and Videotape” (smartphone).

Goal 1: $7,100
When we meet our goal 1 budget we will be able to knock out a successful 2 day shoot, honoring our SAG Micro Budget agreement for cast and crew day rates. Our vision is to make a festival worthy short film that audiences can relate to that is also a proof of concept for a feature film or TV series (pilot).
Goal 2: $10,000

Goal 3: $13,000
If we meet our goal 3 budget we will be able to have the finishing funds for post-production, festival submissions and a marketing budget to pitch our completed short film as a proof of concept for a feature film or television series (pilot). In addition to a successful 3-day shoot, with swimming pool scenes, more time and care with scene work, camera work, intimacy and working with kids.
Goal 4: $15,000
If we meet our goal 4 budget we will be able to pay our cast and crew higher daily rates and have a budget for higher concept/quality set design, locations, finishing funds for post-production, festival submissions and a marketing budget to pitch our completed short film as a proof of concept for a feature film or television series (pilot).
