The Story
Mission Statement
Everyone on our team is huge fans of the the arts, making us no strangers to the thriller and horror genre. More specifically, we have a desire to create a haven for topics in the arts that could be often overlooked, all through the lens of the horror and thriller genre. Our story will create a dark experience that will have you reflect closer on what lies within.
The Story
For as long as I can remember, I always gravitated towards the darker stories while growing up. From books like Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, movies such as The Shining, Candyman 1992, and comic books like Spawn, were all apart of my childhood. Now as an adult, all of that has molded me into the storyteller I am today. My favorite genre of course, HORROR. What better career to feed these tastes other than a filmmaker right? Anyone that knows who I am can tell you that film is my entire life! I've often dreamed of what the perfect horror story would be for me to tell. Working as a director of photography has led me to all walks of life and experiences creatively, resulting in it all hitting me one day. We all share a universal concept in all creative fields that can be summed in two words: Artistry and Passion. I've now set out to create a story about just how deep our passions and artistry can go, especially in one of the oldest forms of art, painting. I plan to make a statement to the world with this story, something relatable, genuinely thought provoking, and ultimately terrifying. I intend to stamp a place in history with a bold story that can be a horrifying self reflection for any creative, presenting to you The Painter. - Chris Barcia
Horror is the perfect genre to make a powerful statement. It's an excellent platform showcase a thought provoking critique on how passion can be terrifying. I intend for this story to calls on our own humanity and reflect on the energy we put towards our passions. This story will make people think twice as It allows us to process Inner pain and imposter syndrome. What I personally am most excited for is stunning visual possibility that horror presents. Below are a few examples the vision for The Painter.

In my experience as a Director of Photography, I've been led to all walks of life creatively as well as seen many technical variations for filmmaking big and small. From these personal experiences, research and some new learning, I have crafted a full on approach on how to best tell this story. My previous works include a lot of vintage tools reformed for modern use and with this project I'm proud to say it has the potential to make film history, being the first professional production ever to use a particular lens. I had to break this lens and then rebuild it in order for it to function for cinema use, but I have successfully done so! With that code cracked, now we just need the funds to ensure this movie stamps a place in cinema history!
We Need You!
We need to raise $5,000
Everyone on the team so far has stepped up to the plate with what they can offer to make this production happen. We all are pushing ourselves to the limit to pull this off but with your help we can deliver something truly next level! The $5K budget will ensure we can provide proper locations, safety measures, gear, food, and all else needed to deliver a professional, high quality movie that everyone deserves to see. It's only possible with your assistance!
Why not just save the money and produce it myself?
Normally I would just save up budget to pull off this project, however this is much bigger than I have imagined! Needless to say, I am no stranger to being hands on and a true team player which in short means, I am certainly putting whatever savings I can out of pocket to pull this off. I am currently working relentlessly freelancing where I can to help boost budget where possible. Knowing all of the moving parts needed to produce a film, I know it's going to take a full team to bring this to life. I plan to use all of my savings to make this the absolute best it can be. With my base, and your contributions we can make cinema history together.
I want to help other creatives bring their visions to life through crowdfunding.
Being 100 percent transparent, crowdfunding is intimidating. However I have always believed in the power of a team and putting my best foot forward, and this is no different. If I am successful in this venture, I truly feel that this project can open a lot of doors for my team and take them to new heights in their career. It only takes one project to change someone's life, and the idea that my project can do that, not only for my team, but for others who are looking to follow in the same footsteps, is amazing to me. Lets foster a community where our ideas can thrive and come to life, and lets do so together.
Your contributions will help make history.
Not only are we telling an artistic story but I cant mention enough that this film will be history in the making, literally! Rebuilding a vintage photography lens that has never been used in cinema before is no easy feat, but I have taken the challenge because I truly feel that it adds to the story and elevates it. I am proud to say that I have succeeded in making this a reality so far and I assure you this film will look like no other movie that has come before it! If we can do that together, I find that concept beautiful. I can't stress enough though that this project is not possible without you!
Exchange of services, and favors are welcomed and appreciated!
The big question, WHY? We have the fever to create new things. We want to create without restriction, express ourselves freely and artistically. We want to make a significant impact in the horror genre and in the entertainment industry. We want to make history as creatives. I believe in the power of community and I know we can achieve this goal. I believe in this project and I believe in the talented team dedicating their time and talents to bringing this film to life. With your help we can raise the $5K needed to do exactly that! -Chris
