The Story
There is something fascinating about the space between two people. The unknowns, the history we bring into love, the versions of ourselves that exist only in someone else’s memory.
Our story follows Vic, who has just proposed to her girlfriend Toni. After years of searching, she has finally found the one person she knows she is destined to be with. But love is not so simple, as Toni’s "soft-dom" alchemist witchy friend, Solana, gifts the couple an experience they could have never expected: the chance to see and experience all of Toni’s past relationships through a time bending trip into the past. What starts as a fun romp through nonbinary fuckbois and straight girl phases turns into something deeper as Vic is confronted with how much she really knows about Toni, and what it means to truly know somebody. Will Solana’s lesson change the way Vic feels about Toni? Or will she find out what lies in the space between?
The Production Plan & Why We’re Raising $15k
We are currently in Pre-Production, with principal photography scheduled for June 2026 in Brooklyn. This film is a massive visual undertaking that blends live-action narrative with surreal, time-bending elements.
Funding Goes Toward:
Bringing the world of The Space Between to life, we are prioritizing high production value and a professional environment. Your contributions will go directly toward:
- Elevated Casting: Securing a professional cast to handle the emotional weight and complexity of Vic and Toni’s story.
- Production Design: Building a world with tactile, textured visuals that reflect the history of these characters.
- Camera & Lighting: Working with equipment that ensures the "time-bending" trips into the past look as cinematic and distinct as possible.
- Crew Support: Ensuring our hardworking NYC crew is fairly compensated and well-fed on set.
A Note from the Writer/Director:
As aforementioned, I am nosy. I'm also a self proclaimed "lover girl", a daydreamer and a YAPPER. Mix that together and I
guess you get... a filmmaker! But in life and love, I go back and forth between this deep desire to be known completely, and the quiet truth that we never really can be. That's where this story comes from. I've been various versions of both Toni and Vic: magnetic, tender, often seen through projections rather than truth. And on the other hand, acting as a mirror: the one who must face what it means to truly see someone, past the idea of them. I hope is that with this film, audiences feel a soft ache of recognition. Maybe they’ll think about the people who shaped them, or the parts of themselves they’ve hidden in past relationships. I hope they laugh a little. And mostly, I hope they feel at peace knowing that love - in all its messiness, timing, and transformation -is still the most beautiful thing we get to do.
