The Story

The Stream has three weeks left in our campaign and we’re GOING for more —
We can’t tell you how moving it has been to see this campaign soar in its initial weeks, reaching our goal of $20,000 IN ONLY 11 DAYS!
But 20,000 was the absolute minimum needed to make this film come to life. And with your help, we can ACHIEVE MORE THAN WE EVER DREAMED OF.
WE’RE SETTING OUR SIGHTS ON $25,000.
Along the way, we’ve highlighted clear goals as to where that money will go.
If we raise $21,000 we will be able to afford POST COLOR.
If we raise $22,000 we will be able to afford POST SOUND.
If we raise $23,000 we will be able to afford EQUITABLE COMPENSATION TO CAST AND CREW.
If we raise $24,000 we will be able to afford a PERIOD PICTURE CAR.
If we raise $25,000 we will be able to afford FILM FESTIVAL DISTRIBUTION FUNDS.

The Stream is reaching for the sky! Help us take The Stream above and beyond its initial goal!!

"The Stream" is a film about being the child of an immigrant and being the parent of an American born child. The journey of a father and son, confronting the loss of a home, and with it, the realization of a relationship damaged by time.

A first-generation American son. A sensitive soul and an amateur artist -- torn between an unconditional love of family and a misguided resentment for his father's faults.
A pure salesman at heart, hardworking and self-assertive -- unafraid of new ideas. Driven by a pure need to fulfill the role of father and provider.
After Misha stumbles into a financial catastrophe he asks David to join him on a trip to show their family lake house to some potential buyers.
David reluctantly agrees...

What follows is the journey of a father and son on the road, bound towards selling a home they love. Trapped with one another they must confront their opposing views of America and ultimately their views of each other.

The Stream was born from a deep curiosity about the relationship between my immigrant Russian father and myself.
Throughout most of my childhood, my family owned a lake house. Owning this house was one of the prouder moments of our family’s life. But a few years ago we fell into a deep financial crisis and had no choice but to part ways with it.
After passing this house again for the first time in a few years, the feelings and memories of selling it came flooding back. And out of that was born The Stream.

If you know me and my father, you know that we love each other -- but it's not that simple!
An obsession with success. Generational divide. Growing up. The loss of a home. That weird moment when you look at your parents and you realize that they can make mistakes — which means you can too. Exploring loss and grief and joy on the road. And of course, the American dream — or its failures. This is what we hope to explore in The Stream.
In the months I spent writing this story, the conversations I had with friends, family, and most importantly -- those who share this identity have only made it more clear to me that this is a story that needs to be told.

I'm telling this story to show that this part of myself, of my family, of so many others like me and my father, is a story worth telling ---
AND WORTH FUNDING!

That’s right! YOU, yes you, can bring The Stream film to life!
