Mission Statement

Join the audacious project SV Mettlesome: Acquire a majestic floating studio, redefine filmmaking, and collaborate with artists worldwide. Please support this on Seed and Spark to cultivate a space where passionate filmmakers collaborate and explore new frontiers in cinema.

The Story

What is the SV Mettlesome project?

It follows a map—a collection of log lines and through lines representing the heartbeats of stories I've yearned to tell since birth. While I've turned many into scripts over the years, a few have always frightened me, lurking behind my writing and revealing themselves during filming. This map explores those intimidating tales, the ones I've been too afraid to share, and the recurring themes in the stories I do tell. Today, I embark on an adventure to create short and experimental films for each of them. The aim is to capture the ineffable by collaborating with as many other artists as possible along the way. The SV Mettlesome serves as the hub for this creative endeavor.

A New 25

From the idea that life presents opportunities for growth beyond a certain age, I have come to appreciate the knowledge and skills I have acquired in filmmaking. Recently, my experience teaching advanced and intermediate film classes allowed me to embrace the power of honesty and fearlessly try new things. The shift from being a perpetual learner to a knowledgeable teacher was truly exhilarating, and I discovered that my filmmaking expertise exceeds even that of my peers.

This newfound honesty in teaching has accelerated my learning and deepened my joy in sharing knowledge with others. With the SV Mettlesome project, I aspire to continue this journey of self-discovery and growth. Instead of waiting for complete certainty, this endeavor represents my next experiment - an opportunity to explore my capabilities now and embrace the challenges that lie ahead.

The Plan

I've already started by purchasing the boat, so your contribution focuses on insurance, docking fees, maintenance, and, most importantly, the big renovation. I've recently completed an experimental short called "The Nun," created in a day from scratch and with a stranger. Its goal, to make something with nothing in no time, was a successful proof of concept for the style of collaboration I would like to perfect with this project.

The first project on the map is already in preproduction. "Miss Massachusetts." For more info, check it out on my website forthe.film
