The Story

Five strangers accept hidden terms and conditions buried inside different apps owned by the parent company, Blunder. Each of them taps “Accept” without reading, a small, careless action that becomes the trigger for a 24‑hour nightmare they technically agreed to.
They’re abducted and brought to a single house, where they are forced to complete a series of escalating tasks. But they weren’t chosen at random. Every person in the house carries a dark past: a cruelty, a crime, or a moral failure they’ve buried. The tasks are designed to expose those truths, forcing them to confront what they’ve done and who they really are.
As the challenges intensify, the group must navigate rising tension and the unsettling realization that Blunder knows everything about them. Their survival depends not just on completing the tasks but on facing the consequences of the choices that led them there and those they’re making now.

Directors Statement
I’ve always been drawn to the butterfly effect, the idea that a tiny, almost forgettable choice can spiral into a completely different future. That fascination resurfaced during a lunch break at work, when I caught myself wondering how I ended up in a job I had willingly signed a contract for without fully understanding what I was stepping into. That moment of reflection- that quiet “I chose this, but did I really know what I was choosing?” became the seed of this film.
From there, I wanted to explore a modern version of that idea. We click “Accept” on app terms and conditions every single day, rarely reading a word. We waive rights without thinking, trusting convenience over caution. I started imagining what would happen if those overlooked agreements carried real, extreme consequences, if one careless tap could cost you your safety and freedom for 24 hours. That’s where The Terms was born.
Going into my senior capstone, I knew I didn’t want to play it safe. I wanted to push myself and my crew beyond what we were used to: tighter, more claustrophobic spaces, higher emotional stakes, more complex character arcs, and a larger team than we typically work with. This film is about pressure, consequence, and the weight of small decisions, and I wanted the production to embrace that challenge as an opportunity for growth and collaboration.
Inspirations

The Terms draws inspiration from films like Scream (1996), Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022), and Heart Eyes (2025), blending dark comedy, satire, and horror. Scream influenced the film’s self-aware approach to genre and its commentary on modern fears. At the same time, Bodies Bodies Bodies inspired the use of a confined setting where secrets and relationships fuel tension. Heart Eyes influenced the balance between humor and horror, showing how comedic moments can heighten suspense. Together, these films shaped The Terms into a twisted exploration of technology, accountability, and the consequences of blindly accepting what we don’t understand.
