The Story
We open with the “birth” of the Wizard. The realm we begin our quest with the Wizard in is artificial. As the Wizard explores this world that is seemingly a section of their subconscious that was only recently discovered, she meets her Jester.
A bright ray of light bubbling over with energy and eager to accompany the Wizard on her journey. When they meet, a new part of the Wizard’s consciousness opens up, a space where they may both exist within a natural world untouched by human activity. The Jester keeps the Wizard grounded. On their journey through these contradictory worlds, they meet a man with fish hands and the leprechaun he owns. The man with fish hands is drawn to the jester, offering experience to unlock new “levels” in their world and resources they didn’t previously have access to. The leprechaun develops a fondness for the Wizard. As they discover new parts of their artificial world with the two men, the natural realm begins to fade. It is revealed that the man with fish hands and his leprechaun were promising the Wizard and her Jester riches they did not possess, taking advantage of their naivety for their own selfish benefits.

The Wizard and her Jester in the heat of the moment then set the two men aflame and watch them burn to ash, extinguishing the fire and reconnecting to the nature they were reaching before. Like a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis, our dear Wizard and Jester transform as they make their final descent into madness...
They now have acquired the assets necessary to build their own castle in the forest, ridden with boobytraps, overflowing with spells, isolating themselves from the rest of the world, living in blissful ignorance and insanity.
Our Wacky Crew
THE WIZARD, ambitious and naive, is eager to find her purpose in this bleak world she was thrust into. A world that once surrounded her with lifelessness is suddenly 360’d when she finds connection through the Jester, her grounding force. The Wizard does not speak unless she has something of value to say, and she never wastes a word.

THE JESTER, bright ray bubbling over with light, once purposeless, finds the missing key to life in The Wizard. Gullible and overflowing with her joy to share, she falls easily victim to charms of the likes of the Man with Fish Hands.
THE MAN WITH FISH HANDS, a considerably strange fellow and semi-successful con artist, is awoken by the Wizard and her Jester as part of the quest they set off on. He is rather difficult to understand, a fair facade up, gargling through words and exclusively speaking in rhymes and riddles. He brings along his partner in conning, a little leprechaun who is smitten for our bright Wizard.

THE LEPRECHAUN, our little Con, who lives in a pot of gold, and is performed by a puppeteer. He is slimy and small with a strong Irish accent, and the confidence of a giant. Wasteful and inconsiderate, he tags along on the journey this wacky crew embark on, suckling on the teat of the Man with Fish Hands in hopes of receiving the riches he plans to con his way towards.
Director's Statement
THE WIZARD is a piece I wrote as a love letter to my sisters. The things you do for those you love, the inevitable horrors and bliss required of girlhood, and the shared experience of womanly transformation. Never linear, struggles of ill placed desire and ache disrupt the path to salvation. This story of a Wizard and her Jester was drafted at a time in which I was seeking solace from struggle. In a world that is extremely overwhelming, we find comfort in places that remind us of home. For me and my Wizard, it’s within one another, from the ebb and flow of the tides to the huffs and puffs of The Bay. It’s a story of self-discovery, sisterhood, and transformation. I wanted to explore these themes that I hold near and dear to my heart to be able to tell this story as authentically as I possibly can.
As a female filmmaker, and a proud Pinay princess, I know more than well the significance of storytelling as a means of conservation. The power in being a woman, and hearing the stories of your sisters and the nature of representation. As an artist, it has always been my mission to be a vessel for the voices of other queer Filipina filmmakers, and to cultivate a safe space that prioritizes the inclusion of other women’s artistry.
Our Plan
We plan to shoot the short film in late November of this year and complete it by Summer of 2026. The money raised will cover the costs needed by our art department, that includes production design, costume, as well as food for cast and crew, and renting equipment. $5000 is the minimum amount we need for this film to be greenlit, but raising more will help this project be the greatest it can potentially be. Our stretch goal is $5500, which would allow us to submit to festivals and gain additional equipment to produce a better quality film.
