Mission Statement

A relationship faces the ultimate test: risking all for a friend or sacrifice the friend for freedom. We explore the relationship between Odie and Jane, 2 POC trained by the military. Jane is trying to save her brother, Odie is faced with the decision to help her at the cost of everything he has.

The Story

Synopsis

  • One man is forced to choose between 2 friends puling him in different directions. We follow the story as The Contact aka Roland, sends Odie to to kill someone who has been poking around the government's business. Knowing who is probably causing trouble, Odie is not surprised to find Jane at the centre of it all. An old student, his best student, Jane knew better, so she had to have a reason. What Odie doesn't know is Jane's brother got recruited by one of the programs Odie and Roland protect. Now Jane needs Odie's help getting her brother back. And Roland want's not put them both down.

Why This and Why US?

  • When I wrote this I wanted to explore some of the darker questions that we within the Greater African diaspora seldom talk about, though everyone hears the hushed comments. Are Arabs really part of Africa? Do Egyptians consider themselves African? And why do we put a line where there doesn't need to be one. Growing up as a first generation Coptic (Christian) Egyptian/Palestinian. I found a safe space within the black community, but not always. It's these gaps that I want to bring to light for discussion. That's why we're doing this AND why we are the people to tell this story.

Why now?

  • At a time when we some more division than ever, we aim to bring people closer together by having real conversation that can strengthen the culture and community.

What have we done? And where are we going?

  • We are ready to film! We have the crew, the cast, the script, the locations! We are looking to get support to actually make this. Every $ spent will go to filming and post-production. Below is an atmosphere trailer (stock footage) and some early pages from the comic book we are making, which double as our storyboards.
  • We will make digital copies of the film available to all supporters at that tier. It will also be available online through streaming, for free.
