Mission Statement

We started Mack Productions to follow our passion of bringing compelling stories that really matter to the screen. Our films exist in imaginative worlds, with remarkable characters that will connect with people from all different backgrounds, sparking conversation and fueling the imagination.

The Story

We are so excited to be back with our second project The Runner.  This will not only be an adrenaline fueled short film, but a heart wrenching story about a family you won't want to miss.

For those of you who don’t know us, we are filmmakers who come from a long commercial production background, with over twenty years of experience between the two of us.  After years of commercial work, this has been our opportunity to not only work together as a family but to bring stories that really matter to the screen.  Our films are reflections of personal experiences from our own lives.  This film touches on the ability of the human spirit to persevere against insurmountable odds.

As filmmakers we feel it’s important to write characters that really shine a light on communities that don’t normally get representation in film.  In our short, audiences will get to watch the boy, our character who is blind, face the challenges of this post apocalyptic world head on.  And with some encouragement from his mother in her final moments, he learns to trust himself and his own abilities, as he is forced to finish the job without her.

We are very fortunate to be partnering with a division of World Access For The Blind, the Visioneers, to consult with our team and train our actors so we can provide an honest and truthful representation of the blind community.  Their team specializes in training blind and sighted people to see using echo-location, an incredible skill set that our character uses to survive in our post apocalyptic world.

This is the start of something bigger!  By supporting this project you are doing more than just contributing to a film, you’re helping us build the foundation for future Mack family productions.

Over the next month we will be full steam ahead in pre-production, making hundreds of decisions everyday as we start to make this film a reality.  We will be reaching out to our vast network of talented artists, who will help us bring this world to life in a way you’ve never seen before.

Principle photography will take place in local parks in Long Island New York at the end of August, and we will continue to raise funds through post production.

Every donation will bring us closer to our goal, and enable us to push through each stage of production.  Your support will allow us to rent camera equipment and locations, pay our cast and crew, and hire a talented post production team including an editor, colorist, sound design artist, music composer, and more.  It takes a village!  Thank you so much for your support, and we hope you join us on this journey.

This film is about a woman, and her blind son who are mankind's only hope of delivering a very important package. While her son waits for her on a small rocky beach, they are both hunted by a mysterious deadly force.  After a narrow escape in their rowboat,  the now dying woman hands everything over to her blind son who must find the courage to make it to the drop off point and deliver the package, alone.

The visual style of this film will be created to emphasize our location's natural environment and lighting.  In color we’ll be pushing for a high contrast saturated look which will heighten the tension and beauty of our scenes. Fast paced action sequences and quiet moments will be captured using a varied camera approach.

You can join us by contributing to one of the incentives on the right side of the screen.  We can’t do it without your support!  No amount is too small.
