The Story
Grant is sent spiraling after an epochal moment evokes a series of events he is struggling to accept: unmeasurable loss, returning to work for his father, and admitting he desperately needs help as he grieves. Meanwhile Melissa, also in the midst of her own setbacks, learns that asking for what she needs results in a dramatic outpouring of support. It turns out the human condition is rooted in kindness and when the path gets blurry, it is our willingness to recognize that we all need to share and accept love and compassion to successfully find what connects us all.

The Tapestry We Weave is a short film expected to be around 30 minutes in length and finished in November 2021.

We are Collective Magik and our team is a special and true collaboration of teamwork, and passion that synergizes into creative breakthroughs and magik. It is our mission to provide top-tier cinematic experiences that show that all people, their experiences, are seen, heard, valued, and celebrated.
Grounded in equity, we champion contributions that are compelling, enriching, progressive, and magical. We strive to create compelling productions that entertain, educate, and enrich the viewers. Our films are written in cooperation with a team of humans committed to lifting the voices of BIPOC and queer humans. The artist-groundswell is then elevated by cast, crew, techies, wranglers, and magikal humans from all backgrounds, abilities, and uniqueness completing a human tapestry of pure collaborative spectacularness.

We are making films for the joy we all experience in creating them, the synergy, the boost from togetherness in art. Our films are for you, so that you can see yourself in our characters, so you can feel all the feels of the human journey. We make films about what it means to be alive in a time we all desire to be seen, valued, and heard.

It began with a facebook post calling for those looking to create, to connect, and to build something. Nearly 100 humans responded and the momentum began. Five producers found immediate synergy via virtual meetings, and it was clear that magik was afoot. Collective Magik effortlessly took shape: 80+ creative individuals, celebrated actors, emerging talent, and one short film started from scratch. It is all coming together like magic, a Collective Magik, A Minneapolis based film collective committed to equity.
Dark winter virtual meetings soon gave way to bright summer days and we began to meet in person. The collaborative script had been invented from shared ideas and scripted with representation and celebration of bipoc and queer human stories. Revisions, revisions, revision and then boom, The Tapestry We Weave was complete!

The actors were cast and the crew was wrangled. Actors were chosen free from gender-normative or societal limiting stereotypes. Our cast is magik! With an array of film experience, it is our hope that each actor feel seen, heard, and supported to experience creative breakthroughs regardless of where they are on a creative journey.

Storyboards, blocking, costumes, location scouting...oh my!! The prep, the prep, the prep; a magikal frenzy. The swarm of energy is abound. Lines to memorize and props to gather, and lighting! So many details! And of course funds to raise! Help us make magik. Help us give life to creative sparks, to collective goodness, give to people up to good stuff, to togetherness and to passion and the pursuit of visibility of all the humans and all the stories.

We are in the second half of pre-production and getting ready for principal photography. Filming for some scenes will take place in late June and early July, but late July and early August is when we really get into principal photography and where the funding from this campaign will go. Fortunately, we have a lot of the expensive equipment already available through our team, like the camera, lights, and sound equipment, but we still have costs for props, costumes, set design, locations, and more specific equipment needs. Of course we also need water, caffeine, and food for the cast and crew to keep the magik going!
In September, we should be well into post-production, and our goal is to have the film finished by November. November is when we plan to release the film to you, our supporters! We will host on Vimeo and send a private link to see the film. After that, we will submit it to festivals and release to the public for purchase.
Everyone on this project is a volunteer. None of your money goes to bigwig executives or hotshots. This is an opportunity for our team to grow in the film community and create something impactful. Any profit made from this film will go directly into the next project or to a Twin Cities, MN charity. You can also help us out by following us on social media and sharing to your friends and family. The links to our social media are above!
We started from scratch and it is all coming together like magic, a Collective Magik. Support us in creating a lasting tapestry of the best in all of us!

About This Team
The thing about magik, real magik, is that it is contagious. Because magik is born of sparks and those sparks are the essence of the best in all of us. When one light shines it illuminates the room, casting light on others, lighting their spark, and so the magik spreads.
We are Collective Magik, founded in the understanding that altruistic collaboration is the fuel of all great and worthwhile things. We know that together we are better and so, in a global pandemic, a magikal idea was born. It began with a facebook post calling for those looking to create, to connect, to build something. Nearly 100 humans responded and the momentum began.

- show, through example, that all people, and their experiences, are seen, heard, valued, and celebrated
- promote professionalism among all who engage with Collective Magik and our community
- champion contributions that are compelling, enriching, progressive, and magical
- create compelling productions that entertain, educate, and enrich the viewers
