The Story
Three Ladies & A Fake ID is a subversive coming-of-a-certain-age comedy film about three middle-aged Asian American women who get fake IDs to score a senior discount meal at a local restaurant. Like Superbad meets Thelma & Louise, but with Asian women.
The Farewell (2019)
Mary, Sue, and Esther are three 52-year-old women who have been friends since college. When the trio find out their favorite lunch spot has raised their prices, Mary proposes getting fake IDs to score a senior discount at a new restaurant in order to save some money.
Oh, Lucy! (2017)
Will the ladies be successful with their scheme? Will they actually save money? Where the heck are they even gonna get their fakes?
Though the trio’s wacky adventure, the film will explore the difficulties of accepting the changes in one’s life and the importance of friendship through the thick of it.
Three Ladies & A Fake ID is dedicated to our moms, aunts, and all the ladies who have always encouraged and inspired us but have never had their stories told.
Maneki (2022)
As diverse filmmakers, we want to tell a unique, multi-generational Asian American story that shines a spotlight on our community and culture in a subversive and innovative way. We noticed the dearth of media depicting women over the age of 50, much less Asian American women, and we wanted to tell a unique story that brings them front and center.
With this film, we want to celebrate all the women in our lives with a joyous and fun adventure full of laughter and heart and show that there is an appetite for stories like these.
Through this campaign, we’re looking to raise $20,000. Right now, we're deep in pre-production for the film, and we plan to film in December of this year. Your contribution will go toward the production of our film, covering costs such as cast and crew, equipment rentals, location fees, and props.
Once the production is complete, we'll finish the film in the editing room and submit it to film festivals across the country.

About This Team
Brandon Okumura - Director
Brandon Okumura is a multi-hyphenate film director based in Los Angeles. His films have screened at film festivals across the country such as Austin Film Festival, Hollyshorts, Asian American International Film Festival, Outfest Fusion Film Festival, and the San Diego Asian Film Festival. In 2018, Brandon founded Okie Media, a creative video production company, and has since worked on numerous film projects with clients that include NBC News, Netflix, and UC Davis.
Sheena Santamaria - Writer
Sheena Santamaria is a Filipina American comedy writer based in Los Angeles. She was previously a writer on Maude Night, the in-house sketch comedy program at the Upright Citizens Brigade. Sheena has also written sketches for Filipino AF and Gaysian AF. Her original comedic pilots have placed in competitions such as Final Draft Big Break, Launch Pad Pilot Competition, and the Austin Film Festival.
Austin Quon - Producer
Austin Quon is a Chinese American producer based in the Los Angeles area. He currently works full-time as a producer at Wong Fu Productions where he has worked on projects in collaboration with brands such as Toyota, Netflix, and Coffee Meets Bagel. He has also worked on short films that have garnered millions of views across different social media platforms.
Jucel Andrin - Director of Photography
Jucel Andrin is a Filipino American director of photography based in the Greater Los Angeles area. Drawing strength from a background in music and dance, he has worked on commercial projects for brands such as Beats, Aputure, Pacsun, and Meta, and his films have screened at prestigious film festivals such as Austin Film Festival, Hollyshorts, AAIFF, BAAFF, and Outfest Fusion.
